Dragon Age RPG

Dark fantasy in BioWare's Thedas, run on three six-sided dice and a stunt system.

Overview

Green Ronin Publishing brings fantasy roleplaying back to its dark and gritty roots with the Dragon Age RPG. Based on the hugely popular video games, the award-winning Dragon Age RPG brings the excitement of BioWareโ€™s rich fantasy world to the tabletop. Designed by Chris Pramas (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Freeport), Dragon Age features an original game system (the Adventure Game Engine) thatโ€™s both easy to learn and exciting to play. The Dragon Age RPG is the perfect portal to tabletop roleplaying. The Adventure Game Engineโ€™s rules run on your wits and a roll of the dice. Dragon Age also features an innovative stunt system that keeps combat and spellcasting tense and exciting. So gather your friends, grab some dice, and get ready to enter a gripping world of heroic challenges and villainous rivals, of brave knights and bloodthirsty darkspawn, of mysterious gods and menacing demonsโ€”the world of Dragon Age!

Key features

Three Dice and a Dragon Die

Every test is 3d6 plus an ability plus a focus. One die is a different colour. This is the dragon die. On a success, the dragon die reads the degree of success. A 1 means the character just made it. A 6 means the character did it well.

Stunts

If the test succeeds and at least two of the three dice show the same number, the player gains stunt points equal to the dragon die. The player spends the points at once or loses them. Stunt lists cover combat, spellcasting, roleplaying and exploration. Examples include knocking a target prone, repositioning, cutting a spell's mana cost, or casting a second spell in the same round.

Eight Abilities and Focuses

Dragon Age uses Communication, Constitution, Cunning, Dexterity, Magic, Perception, Strength and Willpower. There is no separate skill list. Each ability holds focuses, such as Stealth under Dexterity. An applicable focus gives a +2 bonus.

Three Classes, Three Races

Characters are fighters, mages or rogues, and humans, dwarves or elves. Specializations arrive at higher levels. Set 3 added the chevalier, the force mage and the shadow.

I'm Izzy. 28. They/it.ย  I have over 10 years of experience in the tabletop space. On/off over the years with playing as finding groups that stay together takes time.ย  I have played in 2 completed 5e dnd campaigns that lasted over 2 years separately. Rime of the Frostmaiden & a homebrew Strahd campaign.ย  I will happily play in 5e & 5.5e games, though I have had an increased interest in p2fe/p2fre!ย  Tabletop games i have liked and played, would play again: 5e, pf2e, Vampire the Masquerade, Monster of the Week, Monsterhearts, Wanderhome, Call of Cthulhuย  Tabletops I have not played but would be interested in: Blades in the Dark, Scum and Villainy, other Powered by the Apocalypse games or Forged in the Dark games, pf1e, Werewolf the Apocalypse, other World of Darkness games, Cyberpunk Red, etc etc My main goal as a player is to be a group player, to be someone that is wholly on the team with the other players! I love the collaborative nature of tabletop most, and why I always hold myself to be flexible and prioritize everyone's enjoyment and keep the table flowing! My characrer ideas are always many, but playing a characrer to the T is not a priority in the sense; that if it disrupts the flow and story of the table or conflicts wirh the group? Then I scrap that idea or develop the character different to mesh better!

Hello!๐Ÿ‘‹ My name is Drew. I'm a 50 year old gay ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ nerdy ๐Ÿค“ school teacher ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ who loves to play tabletop RPGs and board games. I have been gaming and GM'ing since the 80's. My favorite RPGs are a Star Wars, Shadowrun, and superheroes. My least favorite is Cthulhu. But I will play just about anything if the company is laid back, friendly, and fun! I'm always looking for friends to game with! I run two gaming groups, one on Friday nights and one on Sunday afternoons. ย But I want to game more! There are so many awesome games to explore and so little time!

After finding an old fantasy roleplaying game stashed away in a secondhand bookstore, Devon (Dungeon Master) and his four friends sat down to play D&D. Subscription
Narrantium is a browser-based virtual tabletop built around the story rather than grids and tokens: the DM assembles branching scenes, maps, NPCs, music and combat encounters into a playable adventure using a visual quest builder, then runs it live. Players join the session from any browser with an invite link โ€” no account, no install โ€” so it works for remote tables and in person too, with the Player Screen cast to a TV. System-agnostic with solid D&D 5e support; only the DM needs a subscription, players always play free, and there's a free plan.
