Fall of Eight Kingdoms
Hello! I’m looking for 1-2 players to join an ongoing Dungeons & Dragons campaign that has been running for about a year. A few members of our original five-player group unfortunately have to step away because of scheduling conflicts, but the campaign itself is continuing and I’m looking for some new people to join the remaining players.
System: D&D 5e, primarily the 2014 rules. Elements from the 2024 rules may be allowed at my discretion.
Platform: Discord for voice and Foundry for maps/combat.
Schedule: Sundays at approximately 8:00 PM EST, usually weekly. We’re fairly understanding about real-life scheduling and would rather postpone occasionally than routinely play with half the party missing.
Age: 18+
This is intended to be a long-term campaign. We’ve already been playing for roughly a year, and there is still a great deal of the story and world left to explore.
The world is divided among several kingdoms—some held together by uneasy alliances, others separated by generations of hostility. Something is coming that threatens not merely one nation, but potentially the entire known world.
The party has spent the campaign slowly uncovering pieces of that larger mystery while becoming involved in conflicts throughout the setting. There are political struggles, ancient ruins, forgotten civilizations, dangerous organizations, supernatural mysteries, and threats ranging from very human enemies to things that should probably have remained forgotten.
The campaign travels quite a bit. Depending on where the story goes, you might find yourself investigating a decaying manor, exploring an ancient ruin, navigating the politics of a major city, crossing a desert, sailing the high seas, surviving a haunted castle, or encountering something from beyond the stars that really does not belong in a fantasy world.
I try to maintain a balance of roleplay, exploration, mystery, and combat, with a strong emphasis on characters having their own motivations and connections to the world.
Because this campaign has already been running for about a year, I’m looking for players who are comfortable joining a story already in progress.
You do not need to know a year's worth of lore before playing. I’ll give new players the information they actually need, introduce things naturally, and work with you to make sure your character has a reason to care about what is happening.
There is one thing I would specifically like from incoming players:
I want to work together on your character's connection to the world.
I already have several major locations, NPCs, factions, mysteries, villains, and future storylines established. Some were also connected to characters whose players are now leaving. Rather than simply throwing those plots away, I would like to work with new players to find places where their characters can naturally connect to some of them.
That does not mean I’m going to hand you a premade character or tell you what you have to play.
Come to me with your own ideas. Race, class, personality, goals, history, etc. can absolutely be yours. What I’m asking is that you be willing to collaborate with me on the details so that your character has at least one meaningful personal connection to something already happening in the campaign.
Maybe an established faction wronged your family. Maybe you're searching for someone connected to an existing mystery. Maybe you come from a place the party hasn't reached yet. Maybe one of the campaign's villains has already affected your life without the party knowing it. There are a lot of possibilities, and I'd rather find one that excites both of us than force someone into a predetermined role.
Ideally, I want the new characters to eventually feel like they were always part of this world rather than characters who suddenly appeared because we needed more players.
I’m looking primarily for players who:
Can generally make Sunday games around 8 PM EST
Want a long-term campaign rather than a short adventure
Enjoy roleplaying and engaging with other player characters
Are willing to investigate things and interact with the setting rather than waiting for the DM to push them toward the next objective
Are comfortable with serious storylines while still being able to joke around and have fun as a group
Are willing to collaborate with me during character creation
Understand that joining an established campaign means there will initially be things their character—and they as a player—do not know
Want their character's backstory and decisions to actually matter
New players and experienced players are both welcome.
I’ve been DMing for nearly a decade, and I tend to put a lot into worldbuilding, NPCs, mysteries, and long-term plotlines. Player decisions can significantly change what happens, including things I originally expected the campaign to do.
Interested?

What do you enjoy most in a D&D campaign?
What kind of characters do you usually enjoy playing?
How do you feel about joining an established campaign and collaboratively tying your character into existing storylines?
Can you normally make Sundays around 8 PM EST?
Anything else you'd like me to know about you as a player?
You don't need to submit a finished character concept with your application. In fact, I’d prefer to talk first before anyone gets too attached to a particular backstory, because once I know what kinds of characters interest you I can tell you about parts of the setting that might give you some ideas.
If you already have a rough concept, though, feel free to include it.
The Fall of Eight Kingdoms has already been going for a year. I'm hoping to find a few players who want to be there for the rest of it.
