PbP Burning Wheel game. U kno what that means, I don't know how most of the rules work.
In the Saxon shade of the Elbe River, they said the Angles would never be more than slaves. On the Islands of Sylt, they said the Angles would never cross the sea. In the Jute heartland of the northern peninsula, they said the Angles would be driven extinct by the Ice Age and swallowed by the rising sea level. In a thousand years, they will say nothing.
Having spent centuries living and persevering on the infertile, swamp-like soil of what makes up the modern Holstein region, the Angles are worn-down survivors, exhausted by decades of fighting and driven to a point of near total demographic catastrophe, with their people perpetually being lost to deaths or slavery inflicted by to the combined onslaught of other Germanic tribes.
Now, with the Migration Period in full swing, they wield the uneasy fate of forging the greatest destiny of all of the era’s Great Migrators. The wise move, the desperate move often, and the strong stay, fight, and prosper. But in time, the Angles will have been all three. But for now, it’s merely 470AD. And there is nothing but the village of Caistor-by-Norwich. A settlement of sunken huts, free from the fractured and unusable earth of the lands before, but without any people to tend to it. It is merely a respite from the famines of the homeland. But it is destined to be the world.
(you can play Britons instead if you want, though)
