Six Axes

Your table already tells the story. This writes it down.

Overview

Six Axes is Kerf & Code's D&D toolkit: a session-analytics and GM platform that captures and transcribes play, plus multi-system builders, a hex world map, and an offline voice/typed rules compendium spanning D&D, Draw Steel, Lancer, Daggerheart, PF2e, and Dark Matter. It is still in Alpha and I am looking for testers and artists.

Key features

It knows what you rolled

Most session tools listen and summarise. Six Axes also captures the mechanics: attacks, saves, damage, hit points, who rolled what and when. On a supported virtual tabletop those numbers arrive automatically; playing in person with real dice, it reads the numbers your table says out loud. Which lets it do arithmetic nobody else can. It knows the fight it called Moderate left the party at a third of their hit points, and it can tell you that your Moderate encounters land like Hard ones, at your table specifically, across a whole campaign.

A campaign wiki that writes itself

Every NPC the party meets, every place they go, every faction and thread and piece of loot gets captured from what was narrated and filed where you can find it. You approve what goes in. By session five you have the campaign bible you were never going to write. When it is worth sharing, publish it as a page anyone can read, no account needed. You choose exactly what appears, so the setting and the cast can go public while the things your players have not found yet stay yours.

It tells you how your table is doing

Which threads you have left hanging for four sessions. Who has not had a scene in a while. That one character is quietly holding two thirds of the party's loot. The things you half-notice on the night and have forgotten by the next one. It also builds a read of how each player engages, across six axes: tactics, arcana, voice, exploration, rapport, and nerve. It is not a score and no axis is the good one. It exists so you can notice you have not given someone a scene that plays to what they actually enjoy.

Build the world, four scales deep

Generate a hex world from a seed, or paint biomes by hand up to 250 by 250, then have it rendered as a finished map. Drop pins, link each to a place or an NPC, and trace where a session actually went. City, dungeon, and building maps use the same brush-and-render loop. A slice of it, the generator, is one of the free tools below. Inside a campaign it ties to your codex, your sessions, and what your players are allowed to see.

Castle VTT

Virtual tabletop (VTT)

Castle VTT is currently in active development, so features discussed or shown in screenshots may change. Castle VTT is a virtual tabletop that runs on the GM's own computer. The desktop app contains the whole server, so there is nothing to rent and nothing to configure. One click puts the table online through a Cloudflare Tunnel, and players join from a browser link. There are no seats to buy and no per-player cost, and the campaign lives on the GM's disk as a database file and an uploads folder they can copy or back up like any other folder. It ships its rules engines in the box rather than assembling them from modules. Pathfinder 2e Remaster enforces the three-action economy, the multiple attack penalty and four degrees of success; D&D 5e handles true multiclassing with a shared slot table, separate Pact Magic and per-class save DCs. Both share dynamic lighting with walls and doors, per-player fog of war, server-rolled dice, a 1-20 character builder, and peer-to-peer voice between players' browsers. Importers cover Foundry, Roll20 and Universal VTT, plus a PDF-to-compendium tool with a review step. Castle VTT is in open alpha. Windows, Linux and macOS. Links castlevtt.com - Official website

TableStage

Virtual tabletop (VTT)

TableStage is purpose-built map display software for in-person tabletop games. It runs on a Raspberry Pi 4 as a flashable image and turns any TV or screen into a controllable map display, operated entirely from a phone or tablet browser. Setup takes a few minutes: flash the image to an SD card, plug the Pi into the screen, scan the QR code that appears, and the display is live. There is no open laptop at the table, no PC, no cloud, no accounts, and nothing for players to install. A Windows version is coming to Steam soon. TableStage is deliberately not a full VTT. It has no tokens, no character sheets, no dynamic lighting, and no rules automation, and it does not try to move the game onto a screen. Physical minis stay on the table. The software exists to do one job well: put maps on the table with as little friction as possible, and add atmosphere with pinned music and ambience. /images/general-media/1785795372_YVhCgnVG.png The GM controls everything from their phone, including switching maps, drawing fog of war live as the party explores, adjusting the grid, and managing audio. Maps are organised into collections, so a GM can group everything for a campaign or a session and switch between them quickly during play, with audio pinned per map. Collections can be exported and imported, which makes it straightforward to back up a library, move it to another device, or share a prepared set with someone else. The display itself shows only the map, with no menus, cursors, or interface clutter visible to players. Everything runs locally over the group's own Wi-Fi, and after initial setup the system never touches the internet, making it suitable for venues without reliable connectivity. /images/general-media/1785795379_FowVrjRg.png Key features Static and animated maps up to 4K60 Fog of war drawn on the phone, revealed live on the screen as the party explores Grid overlay calibrated to your screen (size, shape, colour, opacity) Maps organised into collections Audio pinned per map for autoplay on map selection or playable from the playlist Collections can be exported and imported for backup, transfer, or sharing Music and ambience over Bluetooth, AirPlay, HDMI, or the Pi's audio jack Idle screens, colour grading, and animated overlays such as clouds and fog Controller runs in any browser, optimised for mobile device operation Fully offline after setup /images/general-media/1785795387_L29WqWlz.png Suitable for Groups playing in person who want maps displayed on a TV or table screen without a computer at the table, who prefer to keep their physical minis, and who want a setup that works without configuration or accounts.
