Warhammer: The Old World

Overview

Warhammer: The Old World Roleplaying Game is a dark fantasy tabletop roleplaying game set in Games Workshop's Warhammer Old World, published by Cubicle 7 under licence. It was first discussed in a Wargamer interview in February 2025 with Cubicle 7's CEO Dominic McDowall-Thomas and senior producer Pádraig Murphy, and the Player's Guide, a 192-page full-colour hardback, was scheduled to begin shipping to pre-orderers in April and reach general release in late May, with the year not stated on the page. The Player's Guide is credited to Michael Duxbury, Steph Farrow, Cody Faulk, TS Luikart, Pádraig Murphy, Zsombor Sváb and Dominic McDowall. The game runs on the C7D10 system, a pool of ten-sided dice, and drops the percentile system of

Description

Players take on adventurers in the Old World, starting in the town of Talagaad, where each character begins with contacts, and the Gamemaster runs a campaign built around a Grim Portent, a hidden threat that targets the party. Character creation offers six Origins and 30 Careers, including Ratcatcher, Witch, Wizard and Dwarf Slayer, and the core book includes Dwarves, Halflings, two kinds of Elves and two kinds of Humans. A first-look reviewer found it a more frontier, monster-bashing experience than Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, with tactical depth in a straightforward ruleset. The game asks a table to accept lethality. Being hit leaves characters staggered, repeated staggers usually cause injuries, and there are no hit points, so fights can turn quickly. Magic is dangerous for the caster. It suits groups who want a Warhammer game with faster character creation and clear tactical combat.

Name: AJ Age: 32 Prounouns: She/Her/Hers Transgender lesbian, recently relocated from San Francisco to SLO. 10+ years of RPG experience, Forever GM. Looking to take a break from running game to acutally play, and preferrably something that's not 5th Ed (it's not off the table, just not my first choice). Like my games with a fairly even balance between RP and combat, canted more toward RP, push-come-to-shove. Most interested right now in "New" World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness 1st Ed (Promethean: The Created is a personal favorite), but open to most anything if the campaign premise sounds good. Have a car, willing to travel up to 40 miles if necessary. Zero tolerance for tranphobia, homophobia, racism, ableism, or any other form of bigotry.

Tabletop Hot Takes is a podcast about Tabletop Role Playing Games, the host's thoughts and feelings on them, and, of course, hot takes. Professors Aria and Funky explore TTRPG history, indie RPGs, advice, recommendations, and all kinds of other great things. Professor Aria was raised in the fire of TTRPGs having run and played Shadowrun, D&D 5E, Ryuutama, and several indie RPGs. They have Game Mastered for almost ten years. They are trying to make their own system, an exploration of fantasy and how even small actions can result in lasting change for the world. Professor Funky has run TTRPGs for over 20 years and for far too many systems to count, though he will try. He is in the process of making his own system (Expedition Protocol) and publishing various adventures as well.

Ambercon UK

Europe
AmberCon UK 2026 will be our twenty-ninth annual roleplaying convention devoted to the Amber Diceless Roleplaying Game and we hope you will join us there from 25th September to 27th September 2026. This year’s Ambercon UK is following the pattern created in 2025 – as such it is being held in apartments rather than a hotel setting and con goers will need to find their own accommodation. A list of variously priced options will be posted in the New Year.. What’s planned? Just as Amber is not an ordinary RPG, AmberCon UK is no ordinary game convention. AmberCon UK 26 will feature events for players of all levels of experience, including new character auctions, stand-alone scenarios, new and continuing mini-campaigns, freeform games and the chance to meet, relax with, and plot hideously against your fellow Amber players in comfort.
