Kult: Divinity Lost

Horror
Rules-medium
Kult: Divinity Lost is the fourth edition of Kult, a contemporary horror RPG originally created by Gunilla Jonsson and Michael Petersén and first published in Sweden by Äventyrsspel (later Target Games) in 1991 - a game notorious enough in its day that its Italian release was reportedly banned by the Vatican.  This edition, designed by Robin Liljenberg and Petter Nallo and published by Helmgast in 2018 following a successful Kickstarter, is a ground-up reboot: entirely new rules built on a modified version of the Powered by the Apocalypse engine, and a setting updated from the 1990s to the present day. It won two ENNIE Awards in 2019 and is distributed internationally by Modiphius Entertainment.

City of Mist

English
Rules-medium
City of Mist is a noir urban fantasy tabletop roleplaying game about ordinary people who carry the soul of a legend inside them, created by Amit Moshe and published by Son of Oak Game Studio. It was funded on Kickstarter in 2016, where it raised $104,313 from 1,762 backers, and released in 2017. Modiphius Entertainment co-published it from 2018. The game was split into a Player's Guide and a Master of Ceremonies (MC) Toolkit in 2019, and a Starter Box followed in November 2020. It won a Silver ENnie in 2017, a Gold ENnie for interior art in 2018 and a Gold ENnie for Best Aid/Accessory in 2021, and in 2024 it won French awards, the Graal d'Or and the Grog d'Or. The system loosely evolved from Powered by the Apocalypse, and its spiritual successor is Legend in the Mist. Description Players take on Rifts, people whose everyday selves are joined to a mythical identity, such as a figure from legend, folklore or fairy tale, in a rain-soaked city where a hidden world of myth presses against the mundane one. The MC, the game's name for its Game Master, runs mysteries and conflicts in a noir setting, and the characters balance the lives they are trying to keep with the powers they have inherited. The game asks a table for investment in character drama. Each character has two identities that pull in different directions, and the story often turns on which one takes the lead. It suits groups who like detective stories, moral compromise and personal stakes, more than groups who want to optimise a build.
