Description

Hey all! I'm working on a homebrew campaign set in the world of Nymorath - a fantasy setting with original worldbuilding, factions, lore, and maps. The campaign weaves together several story arcs under the working title Echoes of Nymorath, designed to run to completion in approximately 40 sessions. I'm at the stage where I need a second table to run alongside my existing group for playtesting, so that I can compare how different groups move through the same content. Planned schedule: Sundays at 19:00 CET/CEST, every second week, approx. 4 hours per session What to expect:
  • D&D 5e 2024 ruleset; Modules, Player's Handbook and core references already set up in Foundry
  • Online via Foundry VTT. I host, you only need a browser; everything is setup with maps, tokens, lighting, and atmosphere
  • An absolutely free game - I am covering all needed hosting, subscriptions, modules and similar.
  • A homebrew world with developed history, lore, continental and regional maps, city maps, and battle maps for adventures. A shorter and longer form of the history and lore documents will be provided before the game start.
  • A small number of custom rules, creatures and homebrew mechanics - very simple and clearly defined stuff, nothing that requires homework
  • Session 0 will be a one-shot to get the table comfortable before the campaign starts
  • Feedback after sessions is expected - nothing formal, just honest impressions on what landed and what didn't.
  • I play with my camera on. You are not expected or required to do the same.
  • Campaign in active development: mostly polished, occasional rough edges to be expected.
What I'm looking for:
  • 5 players
  • Comfortable with 5e 2024 rules, minimum: know the basics, know their character and know where to look for things they are not sure about.
  • Sessions are in English, so a decent grasp of the language (I am not a native speaker)
  • Good audio setup - a clear mic is a hard requirement
  • Reliable and committed, okay with a long-form campaign
  • Willing to engage genuinely with the material and flag anything that feels off
  • (18+) The campaign deals with some mature themes: moral ambiguity, political violence, darker subject matter, so a degree of maturity at the table is expected. Nothing gratuitous - I would not flag it as NSFW or similar, but this is not guaranteed to be a... sanitized setting. Of course, I will do my best to keep everything within the limits of decency.
The setting: Nymorath is a continent still finding its footing after a devastating war ended forty years ago. The wounds healed unevenly - some cities rebuilt quickly, some still quietly bleeding, and others left in ruins. Eversail is not only one of the living ones, but bursting with life! A smaller port city with deep roots and a complicated present: merchant guilds pulling in one direction, local factions pulling in another, the church doing its best to hold its ground, and the distant capital of Stoneford casting a long shadow over all three. Trade flows in and out of its docks - not all of it declared, of course. The taverns have regulars with histories, and those histories have their own histories. Above it all, the Administrators' Guild keeps records of everything, which means someone always knows more than they should... which many find less than optimal. In the middle of it all, dark forces are beginning to move, the political tensions that have been simmering since the war are coming to a slow boil, the good old "where there is coin, there is trouble" holds itself true... And there's also a mage who would very much like to get back to his card game. A note on table fit: This is a story-driven campaign in a world that has history and people in it. Characters who exist to break things, obsessively optimize damage, or treat every NPC as either a target or a vending machine will not enjoy it here, and neither will the rest of the table. Speaking of that, I do not consider this campaign to be overly difficult, and it will not be needed to squeeze every bit of might out of your character in order to survive; the characters can freely be played for fun and flair first, for combat efffectiveness second. About me: I started with D&D 2nd Edition about twenty years ago and spent a long time deep in 3.5, as both player and GM... then life happened, and I took a looong break from DnD. What you're looking at now is the result of coming back and deciding that the 497 pages of scrawled notes, maps, and campaign material from those years deserved better than finding its forever home forgotten in some drawer in the basement. I'm in the process of converting all of it into digital format, proper maps, a fully built Foundry module - and rebuilding it for 5e 2024 along the way. Foundry and 5e 2024 are both relatively new to me in practice, and there will probably be moments where I have to look something up mid-session, miss a rule or apply something from an older edition by mistake. Be prepared and have understanding, please. I mostly take the game seriously, but without demanding everyone else does - some silliness is very welcome, if in character. Again, I try to do the silly voices and accents as much as I can, but do not expect everyone else does that - whatever works for you. One thing I need to be upfront about: this campaign is being developed as a commercial release. The people who playtest it are helping shape a product that will eventually be sold. Your feedback genuinely matters, and you should know what you're sitting down at the (virtual) table for. A note/disclaimer on assets: Some placeholder art used during playtesting is AI generated. This is a temporary measure for a campaign in development, not a finished product. Once playtesting is complete, I will be commissioning human artists for everything that needs proper illustration. For now, I need to test where art is actually needed/useful. Absolutely no AI-generated art will appear in the final release. To apply, please fill out the form below - shortlisted applicants will be invited to a short "vibe check" voice call before session zero to talk through the campaign and make sure we're a good fit before committing either side's time. No DMs please, I'll review entries and follow up via Discord. Log in to view

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Welcome to the Somnium Shard. A sundered paradise; knowledge, gods and power's all known throughout the land, its history coveted by lost tomes, cosmic knowledge and crazed minds. With earliest carvings detailing a different world that may have been the Shard's muse, the inspiration for reality. However not all could be replaced, and the world's panorama was in its own natural discourse, with the residents at home. With that overly grand intro done welcome to my personal world, a multi-year labour of love that I'm still working on with every session, a sandbox type world for players to discover, learn about and influence as they desire. Designed as an open campaign for players to fit into as they wish, follow the threads of their backstory, or start a questline that leads to them swearing loyalty to a kingdom. Whatever it is you feel you want to do in a fantasy world I'll accommodate it as well as I can. However do not think that this means everything is free, the Somnium Shard is still a living and breathing world, thievery, murder and the sort will have consequences, as will trying to steal that magical artifact. You'll have to contend with mages scrying on you, rangers tracking you and bounty hunters after you if you upset the wrong people. So come and join the adventure, see where your characters can take you, how they can evolve and develop in this world with a DM that can handle whatever you feel like throwing at him. Ghost of Saltmarsh X Call From The Deep (maritime)

Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
I'm looking for two players to join an ongoing, long-term D&D campaign built around immersive roleplay, challenging combat, memorable characters, and a story that can grow far beyond the usual adventure. 🐉 About Me as a DM I'm an experienced DM who has completed several campaigns, including Tyranny of Dragons, Lost Mine of Phandelver, Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen, and Dreams of the Red Wizards. I've been playing with three players for years, and we're now looking to welcome two new adventurers into our group. I love old-school fantasy, meaningful character interactions, dangerous encounters, and the kind of storytelling that makes the table remember a session long after it's over. I care more about the story and the players' choices than enforcing every rule to the letter. I'm flexible when it makes sense, and my biggest satisfaction as a DM is creating memorable moments and driving a compelling narrative. 🌊 The Campaign The campaign is a long nautical adventure on the Sword Coast, built from Ghosts of Saltmarsh and Call from the Deep. It starts in Saltmarsh, a small fishing town with a smuggling problem and a divided council. From there it grows into a voyage up and down the coast, through Neverwinter, Baldur's Gate, Waterdeep, Luskan and the pirate islands beyond, as the party uncovers something stirring beneath the waves. Expect your own ship and crew, sea battles, haunted wrecks, flooded ruins, intrigue in port towns and the peoples of the deep, some of whom might become allies. The choices you make will come back to help or haunt you. So far, the party has cleared out a smugglers' den, captured their ship and survived a night aboard a ship of the dead. Now they are deep in a lizardfolk lair, trying to turn an uneasy truce into an alliance. The campaign is set in the Forgotten Realms, with its foundations inspired by Ghosts of Saltmarsh and Call from the Deep. I've built a massive framework with plenty of room for expansion, player-driven stories, and unexpected developments. To give you an idea of the scale, I currently have: 60+ maps prepared. 300 NPCs to meet, befriend, antagonise, or regret crossing. Hundreds of magic items to discover. A campaign framework designed to grow alongside the party( shortlist of about 10 one shots - wiaiting for an opportunity to plug them in)  I also try to bring NPCs to life using VOICEMOD nd my own attempts at different accents. I'm no professional voice actor, but I enjoy making the world feel alive! ⚔️ What to Expect My games focus on roleplay and combat in equal measure. I'm not particularly puzzle-focused, although I'm happy to introduce puzzles when they fit the adventure. Combat is challenging, tactical, and unforgiving. I like putting players under pressure, making their decisions matter, and creating encounters where victory feels earned. Character death is a real possibility, and even a total party kill is on the table. I'll challenge you hard, but I'll give you meaningful choices and opportunities to fight for survival. This isn't a campaign where you can expect every encounter to be balanced around an easy victory. Think carefully, work together, and don't underestimate your enemies.(my motto: never split the party)  🧙 The Current Party You'll be joining a party consisting of: A male tiefling Mystic with psionic abilities. A 6'2" female half-elf/human fighter wielding a two-handed sword. An aaracokra druid. I'm looking for two characters who can become part of this group, contribute to its dynamics, and help shape the direction of the story. 🤝 Who I'm Looking For Personality and teamwork matter more to me than building the perfect character. I'm looking for players who: Have engaging personalities and enjoy interacting with others. Are genuine team players rather than lone wolves who want to be the main character. Enjoy both roleplay and challenging combat. Respect the other players and contribute to a fun, collaborative table. Are interested in committing to a long-term campaign and developing their characters over time. You don't need to be an expert on the rules or an amazing roleplayer. Just bring enthusiasm, creativity, a willingness to collaborate, and a character who has a reason to be part of the adventure. New players welcome and must be able to commit weekly ( with an exception of holidays or real life) - i have a little boy, my time is scarce sharing between family, travels and work, so i expect a commitment  not a casual attendance.  🎨 A Little About Me Outside the Game When I'm not DMing, I'm a father to a little boy who just started crawling, I paint miniatures, travel, cycle, and craft marketing strategies for living.  D&D is one of my favourite creative outlets, and I put a lot of time and effort into building a world that feels alive. If you're looking for a long-term adventure with rich roleplay, dangerous combat, a living world, and a DM who genuinely enjoys crafting stories with his players, I'd love to hear from you. Two seats are open. The Realms are waiting. It's a free game, i do not provide dnd beyond but can import your character, my foundry has a module to built a character - but ideally let me know what you anticipate to play.

Sea Wolves: Salt & Sorecery

Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
The old world has drowned. Life carries on across floating settlements and scattered islands, while lost civilisations lie beneath the waves. Ships carry stories, supplies, and strangers between communities built from the remnants of what came before. Some seek a fresh start; others search for answers in the wreckage of the past. Ancient relics, unfamiliar shores, and things stirring in the deep await beyond the horizon. Fancy exploring a flooded fantasy world and making some friends along the way? I’m putting together a tabletop group in Amsterdam (Czaar Peterstraat, 15 min from CS). Organised every other week (depending on everyone’s interest and availability) Snacks & good vibes included. Sea Wolves: Salt & Sorcery is a post-apocalyptic fantasy story sandbox about finding our place in the world. Expect lots of roleplaying, collective storytelling and rewarding combat encounters, played with paper minis on a digital map. Rescue, recover, protect, escape: 'defeat all enemies' is almost never the main objective. What do you find in that wreck? Who do you recognise in the harbour? Sometimes you tell me, other times I'll tell you. Character motivations and relationships are at the core of our story. Follow a mystery, help a settlement, chase your ambition, pet a turtle? The ocean has plenty of room for adventure, mystery, friendship, humour, and dubious schemes. Ik spreek gewoon Nederlands, but we'll play mostly in English. There’s room to have fun, be creative and express yourself. I like doing voices, you're encouraged (but never expected) to get goofy and do so as well. I’d love an inclusive, diverse group where everyone feels comfortable being themselves. Come curious and be kind. Boundaries are always respected, no questions asked. New players are welcome!
