[5e 2014 & 2024][Boise, ID area][LGBTQIA+ Friendly] Veteran DM looking to take some cool people on a homebrew adventure. Hello everyone. I am looking into starting an offline game in my area. As of now, I am looking for 2 people who would be in the mood for a long term campaign. Who are you, strange internet person? I am a man in his mid 30s who has been playing TTRPGs for about 15 years. I started with 3rd edition, made my way to 3.5, skipped 4th edition, and found my home in Pathfinder for the majority of that time. I recently wanted to expand that portfolio into 5e with the 2024 ruleset but I will allow for usage of the 2014 ruleset pending review! This is my first 5e game so expect a lot of rule checks. That said, I have physical copies of 6 of the books (DMB, PHB, MM, TCoE, XGtE, and MotM). What sort of game will we be playing? The game itself will be a dark fantasy and post-apocalyptic world known as Relovia. No, there is no relation to the setting for Curse of Strahd. Relovia suffers under the blight of the Stillborn Moon, a failed god seedling that has turned Relovia into an ashen hellscape of mutated monsters, aberrant horrors, and terrors beyond imagining. I would say it is a high fantasy, low tech campaign but there is nuance to that that would be heavy spoilers. It’ll be a great time! Themes include body horror, cosmic horror, survival, existentialism, hope, and defiance. The campaign will be about 70-30 between roleplay and combat. 70% of the campaign will be social encounters, exploration, and the like while the other 30% will be combat. A very important fact I need to share about Relovia before we continue is that Relovia has no connection to gods or other planes. This means that the power granted to you by gods or external powers comes from within, through study, force-of-personality, force-of-will or whatever else. That means that if your powers explicitly come from an external source (such as Warlock) we can talk about how that power manifests without a patron. I don’t want to spoil too much but I do have a master document that’ll be sharing about Relovia if this piques your interest. You don’t necessarily have to make a good character but you have to make a character that wants to take part in this story and wants to travel with the group. Actions will have consequences and Relovia can be an unforgiving place. We’ll have a full Session 0 where we’ll all make characters together and set boundaries and expectations for myself and the players and their characters. I am aiming for a heavy immersive game and so backstories are mandatory and coming with the attitude of wanting to explore the world, while not mandatory, will help you enjoy yourself much more. I hesitate to call the game a sandbox because I do have a central story idea in place but a lot of that central plot can be discovered by simply exploring and interacting with the world. When will this game take place? I have a strict work schedule so as of now the only time the games can take place is on Sundays. Currently, we play at 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM Local Time. Mountain time! As of now, I have not nailed down a start date for the campaign, though, as I am wrapping up a long-term Pathfinder campaign with some of the group currently. I am shooting for early to mid April. What kind of player am I looking for? I’ll be straight up, I am under no illusions as to what kind of state I live in. If you’re a bigot, a Trumper, or a fascist, you need not apply. The table does tend to have a few minutes of time at the beginning of each session, to chat, mingle, and politics frequently comes up. As far as classes, the only class that is not playable is the Artificer just due to the fact that it does not fit the setting. Races are a different story but all races from the PHB are allowed and a good bit of other races are fine but we can always talk! I am intrigued. What should I do next? Please send me a DM!
