Cataclysm of Thindol

Homebrew

Combat focused
"Destruction brought on by the return of the Cult of the Dragon in the mainland spurred explorers to voyage to unknown lands to seek safety, and so 20 years ago the untamed continent of Thindol was discovered, it being named after Sir Thindol, an Elven fisherman from Neverwinter. Dry and covered in deserts and savannas, settlements began to pop up across the barren coastline, the most notable being the city of Thindar, built around an obelisk made of black rock. For a time peace was the norm of the new world, that was until settlers began to encounter the native Yuan-Ti of the continent. At first, peace was attempted, but after several failed attempts of brokering peace, war erupted between the Yuan-Ti and the settlers.
War has wrought blood across the new world, and there seems to be no sign of it stopping any time soon, with the emperor of the Yuan-Ti, Aten, refusing any stop to the war. Desperate to stop the war and quickly running out of manpower, the capital city of Thindar has sent out the call for aid, its mayor, Ryder Lionmane, personally travelling to the city of Waterdeep to recruit adventurers willing to travel to the new world.
You were lucky, or unlucky, enough to be recruited by Ryder, and his goal for you is simple: travel to the city of Thindar and help its inhabitants stop the Yuan-Ti from exterminating them. Time is running out, and within the shadows, forces greater than the Yuan-Ti stir, for the people of Thindar are unaware of the history of this forgotten continent and the evil hidden within it".
With the hook out there, hi! My name is Hayden, and I am attempting to run a long-running campaign for 4-5 players. My campaigns are very linear, but I will always encourage my players to find their own solutions to everything. My games are also very heavy in both roleplay and combat, with the story blending together with your own personal character backgrounds. The campaign's story is homebrew, but the monsters and mechanics you encounter are fully based on the 2024 rules of D&D.
I will explain further rules and questions in dms, but these are some important notes:
This is a friendly table to those belonging to LGBTQ+
This will be hosted weakly on Tuesdays
I am more than welcome to DM for new players, as I have introduced several people to DND in the past.
For a brief idea on what to expect, you and your fellow party members have just entered the continent of Thindol via boat, and are now travelling through the desert in a caravan. Your goal is to initially reach the city of Thindar, which is considered the capital of the colonies within Thindol. This campaign will heavily feature the Yuan-Ti, Aberrations, planar travelling, and the unnatural Far Realm.
Should any of this sound interesting to you, please DM me either on Reddit or via my discord. I hope to get to know you, and please ask any question you have.
