The Epic Quest to find a long term DnD campaign

Hi! We’re a group of experienced D&D players looking for a long-term online campaign. We’re based in the UK/GMT time zone and are available on Mondays, Fridays, or Saturdays. We’re looking for a weekly, free-to-play game using video and a VTT. We’re interested in D&D 5e or 5.5e/2024 rules, and we’re hoping to find a DM and table who are serious about building a strong campaign together. In terms of style, we’re looking for something with a strong focus on roleplay, character immersion, party dynamics, and collaborative storytelling. A 70/30 or 60/40 roleplay-to-combat balance would be ideal. We love games where players really get into character, care about the world, and work together to create an epic story. We also enjoy combat, but we prefer combat that feels purposeful: tactical, intense, dangerous when appropriate, and connected to the story. We’re not looking for grindy encounters or combat just for the sake of filling time. Character death is fine with us when it serves the narrative and feels earned. Setting-wise, we’re interested in heroic fantasy, high fantasy, or dark fantasy. Faerûn/Forgotten Realms would be a nice bonus, but we’re very open to homebrew worlds as well. We like working with the DM to create characters that properly fit the setting, campaign tone, and world lore. Backstory integration is important to us; we want characters who feel like they belong in the campaign, not just builds dropped onto a map. Tone-wise, we’re especially looking for a campaign where the party can feel like heroes. We’re fine with moral complexity now and then, but we’re not looking for a campaign where everything is constantly morally grey, bleak, or cynical. We’d love something with a strong leaning toward classic good-vs-evil, where there are real villains, real stakes, and meaningful chances to do the right thing. We’re comfortable with mature and dark themes when handled with respect. Villains should be allowed to do bad things, but we prefer implication and mature storytelling over gratuitous shock value. What we’re not looking for: Evil campaigns Joke/meme campaigns Murderhobo tables PvP-focused games Power-gaming-focused tables Timewasters or unreliable attendance We’re looking for mature, reliable people who respect each other’s time, take attendance seriously, and genuinely love TTRPGs. Ideally, we’d love a table with a tone somewhere in the direction of Critical Role: committed roleplay, strong character investment, emotional storytelling, intense moments, and a group that throws themselves fully into the game. We’re flexible with character concepts, party roles, official/homebrew options, and rules interpretation, as long as things stay balanced and don’t break the game. We’re happy to build characters from the DM’s pitch or bring concepts that can be shaped to fit the world. If this sounds like the kind of campaign you’re running, we’d love to chat and see whether we’d be a good fit.
