Twilight: 2000 (2021)

Roleplaying in the World War III That Never Was

Overview

Twilight: 2000 is a post-apocalyptic military tabletop roleplaying game of survival after a limited nuclear war, first published by Game Designers' Workshop (GDW) in 1984. The original was designed by Frank Chadwick, Dave Nilsen, Loren K. Wiseman and Lester W. Smith. Players usually portray American soldiers stranded in Central Europe after the Twilight War, which began as a Sino-Soviet conflict in 1995. The game received the H.G. Wells Award for Best Roleplaying Rules of 1984 at Origins 1985. The current edition, the fourth, was published by Free League Publishing in 2021 on the Year Zero Engine, and its setting options include Poland and Sweden. The system is the fourth edition of Twilight: 2000, following editions published in 1984, 1990 and 1993, and it replaced the earlier rules with the Year Zero Engine, which also runs

Description

Players take on the remains of a military unit, cut off from their command and trying to get home across a ruined continent. The Game Master (GM) runs a sandbox in which the group scavenges, trades, fights and tracks supplies, and the original adventure "Escape from Kalisz" and the Free City of Krakow module sent players through Poland. The game asks a table to value survival over glory. Ammunition, fuel and food are limited and combat is dangerous, so a party has to choose its fights. It suits groups who like logistics and grim, grounded stories more than heroic action.

Marlon
Hello, fellow gamers. My name is Marlon, but everyone calls me Jay-long story there that I won’t get into. Anyways, I’m the forever DM in my family, and I run weekly podcast games for my wife. We’ve designed a tabletop RPG called Prosperon: A Bio‑Cyberpunk RPG, and we’re actively looking for more playtesters. If that interests you, shoot me a message and we’ll make it happen. With that being said, I’m also an active player in several games. I’m currently in a Blades in the Dark campaign every Thursday, which is absolutely amazing, and I have a few open biweekly days where I can commit to another game-as long as it’s the right game, the right crew, and the right day and time. That’s all for now. Take care, and don’t forget-have fun at your table.

I enjoy trying new systems, I typically GM but would also like to join games as a player. I often host in-person one-shots where other GMs and I try out new systems, if you're in the area and interested to run or play something let me know! I'm not interested in online or paid games.

Rollplay lets you build your own mobile character sheet for whatever you're running. Drag & drop to create a layout, setup your own attributes and dice formulas, create items and conditions that actually update stats when your players use them. No code. Share the game and your table plays it on their phones. If you just wanna play one of the existing games, you can try some of the character sheets already in the app. D&D5e, Nimble and others await you to create characters, homebrew weapons or share your creations. Rollplay is built around automation, so homebrewing something ambitious doesn't mean a spreadsheet full of manual math. Design a race, class, item, or a whole new system: set the rules once and let the app run them. Share it with your table, and your players don't have to learn your system to enjoy it; they just play, while your rules quietly do the work behind the scenes. It's the easiest way to make your homebrew feel as polished as anything official.  For Players Auto-Calculated Attributes Stats update automatically as you level up, equip gear, or gain new abilities. Automated Effects Items, classes, and conditions modify your stats on their own, and unwind cleanly when removed, even through deeply nested chains. Equipment & Inventory Equip and manage items in one place, with carry weight and currency tracked for you. 3D Dice Roller Roll skill checks and weapon hits with a single tap, with explosive dice, rerolls, and advanced roll mechanics. For Creators No-Code System Creation Build a complete custom game system: attributes, formulas, effects, dice, and content, no programming needed. Custom Rules Define your own attributes, dice pools, and formulas. Rename core concepts like Race or Ancestry to match your setting. Drag & Drop Sheet Builder Design your character sheet layout visually with modular building blocks. Share & Iterate Push your system to your players directly, with draft and published versions so you can update it without breaking their games.
