Description

hey all, as the title reads, I'm looking to fill out a 5e Eberron group. It'll likely be EST weekday evenings, but the cadence and day is TBD, pending the group's decision. It'll be voice or text/PbP, also pending the group's decision. I'll likely be using Foundry for the VTT. I'm a first time DM who's been in the "I'm gonna do this" stage for a while now. I don't mind first time players, but I would like everyone interested to fill out the survey below. It's a little long, but only the first section is entirely mandatory. Feel free to answer as much or as little of the optional bits as you'd like, writing as much or as little as you'd like. Filling out the entire survery is not required, and you won't be auto-disqualified if you leave some questions blank. You also won't be auto-accepted if you do fill it all out. Again, it's long, so I get it. I'm just trying to make sure I fill my group with players I'd vibe with, and who would vibe with each other. If this post is still up, I'm still looking. My Discord is thread. (with the dot). Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I'll start reaching out to people sometime later this week. I will NOT check the posts on this thread or any DMs. I'm available via Discord only. Log in to view

Yawning Portal into Homebrew Adventure

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Howdy! We have a Friday evening D&D game that is looking for at least one player, but preferably two or even three to fill out gaps in the group. We are currently level eight and going through the book Tales from the Yawning Portal. The primary DM is setting the story in his own world and making the appropriate changes to the stories and encounters within. I, the co-DM, only help with balancing encounters, story hooks and paint most of the minis that are used in the game. The plan is to get through the book and the optional level twenty encounter at the end with the players learning about his homebrew world as they progress. Then at the end, launch into a potentially longer, fully homebrew adventure set in his world. Most things are allowed from 2014 fifth edition, minus some things that simply wouldn't make sense in the world (Warforged, some Planescape stuff, a small handful of spells, the modern equipment in the DMG, etc.). We do however use some third party resources to fill in gaps and plenty of homebrew and Unearth Arcana rules as well. I cannot justly describe his world, but it is inspired by Final Fantasy XIV, some of the earlier Tales game, and has achieved steampunk and early 1900s-era levels of technology that works in tandem with magic. It still has plenty of high fantasy tropes and stories, but can also be more gritty and low fantasy just as easily in parts. We try to have some of each and have them flow together in a balanced way. The game will be held on Fridays starting at 6:00PM EST, hosted at a game shop we both use. The game uses physical miniatures and roll out battle mats, but online character creation (most players use Dndbeyond, but it is not required so long as we can access and view player sheets). Everyone at the table is late twenties to early thirties, nerds who like fantasy and sci-fi, can get a bit loud but try to be friendly, and love collecting new, shiny dice as often as we can and showing off the best ones. We try not to discuss real life topics at the game and would welcome anyone to our table as long as they're there to play a game and have fun.

Hollows of Iparea

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Hollows of Iparea [Text-based] Pitch: You have arrived on a dying planet with no recollection of how you got there. Something is terribly wrong, that much is certain, and worse yet, the planet itself appears to be living. Thralls of an unintelligible hive mind are the only remnants of intelligent life to be seen, and you see echoes of past civilizations in abandon everywhere around you. Your crashed vessel and memories offer no help, and whatever happened here, your survival may depend on a species you cannot understand. System: 5e legacy Tools: Discord, Owlbear Rodeo (VTT). This is a text campaign, you do not need a mic. D&DBeyond sheets are preferred but any others are allowed. Schedule: Fridays, 5 PM - 7 PM EST. Seats: 6 Expectations Game: Players of all experience levels are allowed, but I ask that beginners have a basic understanding of the game's mechanics and know how to create a character beforehand. My DMs are always open for any questions, comments, or concerns about the game. I ask that players don't use AI for responses or for character art. Flying races and Warforged (they don't exist in the setting) are banned. Rudimentary firearms are a thing, and gunslingers are allowed, but modern firearms and technology do not exist. Homebrew is not allowed for classes, and any other homebrew must be run by me. UA and official WotC material is, of course, allowed. 18+ is preferred, and this game is strictly 16+. Characters start at 5th level. Themes: In a nutshell: semi-sci-fi, high fantasy/cosmic horror. This game's overall themes revolve around memory, identity, and isolation. This game also involves elements of survival horror, and resources will be tracked (and scarce). Tone: Overall surreal, bleak, and atmospheric. Safety Tools: TTRPG Safety Checklist & pre-game interview. You can reach out to me at @paws4reason on Discord.
