Description

What Kind of Game This Is The world exists independently; it does not revolve around the characters. It is populated by powerful rulers, ancient monsters, nameless peasants, gods, heroes, and thousands of people who have never even heard of your characters. Some of them are stronger than you. Some are your equals. Some could crush you in a heartbeat. Being an adventurer guarantees no victory; it merely offers a chance to change the world. If characters act wisely—using reconnaissance, diplomacy, cunning, and common sense—they can defeat enemies far stronger than themselves. If they charge in headlong, the world will show them no mercy. Approach to Characters Characters are not merely a collection of stats and abilities. They are individuals who had a life before the campaign began and—potentially—will have one after it ends. They have families, homes, friends, enemies, dreams, and fears. I want characters who truly exist within the world, not ones who simply materialize out of thin air in a tavern with "adventurer" stamped on their foreheads. I am interested in heroes who have something to lose. Approach to Rules Rules are not meant to replace common sense. Rules exist to resolve uncertainty. Therefore, I treat the system as a tool, not as scripture. If you love creating "broken" builds, arguing over every paragraph of the rulebook, or using the rules as a weapon against the GM, we will struggle to play together. If you care more about the world, the story, and the consequences of your decisions than about exploiting mechanics, we will likely get along well. Character Death Death is always a possibility. Characters can die because the world is dangerous. If a character dies, it will be the result of their own decisions, the circumstances, or risks they consciously chose to take. Trust I trust the players. I expect the same in return. If a character runs into trouble, it doesn't mean the GM has decided to punish them. If a character gets lucky, it doesn't mean the GM has decided to go easy on them. Characters take action, and the world reacts to those actions. The game cannot function without trust. Intra-Group Conflict Conflict between characters is acceptable. Conflict between players is not. Characters may argue, hate one another, and hold opposing goals or worldviews. However, players must remember that they have gathered for a shared game. If a conflict begins to spoil the fun for other participants, it ceases to be an in-game conflict and becomes a problem. Metagaming I expect minimal metagaming in this game. This means distinguishing between what you know and what your character knows. A character lives within the world and acts based on what they have seen, heard, and experienced. A player might know more—but the character does not. I ask that you maintain a clear boundary between the two. What This Game Is About This is a sandbox-style game about adventurers on the Sword Coast. Specific events and storylines are unfolding in the world, but it is up to you to decide which ones to engage with and how. Characters venture into the wild borderlands to earn some money. They level up and can become local rulers if they choose. General gameplay: Characters have no money - They go on an adventure. - They earn money and return to town to take a downtime break and spend the money on magical items, training, real estate, and more. - Characters have no money. Playable Characters At the start, there are strict restrictions. Only Humans or Halflings, only Warriors or Rogues. Later, you can learn other classes from instructors and replace your current one. For example, a 3rd-level Rogue could study to become a Bard and become a 3rd-level Bard. Another option for expanding your abilities and changing races is Death. If your character dies, you can choose a character from the races you've encountered and have studied sufficiently. If you've spent time in a dwarven stronghold, it's reasonable that one of the dwarves will decide to travel with you, replacing a fallen comrade. The available classes also expand. If you're playing a Warrior and have spent enough time in a Druid Grove, your next character can be a Druid.

Looking for 2 players for an in-person D&D group

Hey everyone! 🎲 We’re looking for 2 more people, ages 18–30, to join a new in-person D&D campaign around Lakewood/Denver. We already have 2 players and we’re really hoping to find people who want more than just showing up for D&D. We’d love to build an actual friend group where we can also play board games, grab food, hang out, etc. So definitely friends first, D&D players second. The campaign is a long-term homebrew world called Soleil: 500 years ago, the Sun stopped moving. Civilization now survives in a narrow band of eternal twilight between a blazing desert and a frozen darkness. On the 500th anniversary of a massive yearly ceremony, four travelers leave the safety of The Line to discover what lies beyond the walls. It’ll be a mix of mystery, exploration, roleplay, combat, giant titan monsters, emotional story moments, and weird discoveries. ✨ We’re thinking: • In person around Lakewood/Denver • About every other week • Long-term campaign • D&D 2024 rules • Beginners welcome • We’d probably do a casual hangout or board game night first just to make sure everyone vibes before committing • Your character will have deep secret and background link to the world ! If you’re interested, send me a message and tell me a little about yourself, what you like about D&D, and what other games or hobbies you’re into!

I wasn't finding enough games to join that had everything I needed and that would also get back to me. So, I decided I'd try to find the right people for me this way! Hello, I am Grill! I am a silly gal and you can find some basic info about me in my player profile ^^ I am not the GM, and I am willing to let the future GM have full creative freedom for the story. All I ask is that the campaign we do be suitable for both teens and adults. And please let me be able to be silly and whimsical! Perhaps a fairy!!! Homebrew is very much allowed!

[5e 2014] DM Looking for 5 Premade Players — 3-Month Sunday Campaign Hey everyone! I'm a longtime online DM with a homebrew campaign that I'm really excited to run. The campaign is designed for 5 players and will run for approximately 3 months on Sunday mornings. The catch: I'm specifically looking for a premade group of 5 players who already know and have played with each other for more than a few sessions. I'm looking to give another DM a break for a few months by running their group through my campaign. Each player would play their own PC during the sessions. You'll need access to Foundry VTT and Discord. The Setting The campaign takes place in Sanctuary, a massive underground dystopian city built from the remnants of a dying world. The surface is nearly dead. An enormous creature from beyond this world has been slowly feeding on the life of the planet. The land is becoming a wasteland, earthquakes tear through what remains, and civilization has collapsed across much of the world. Only a handful of powerful cities remain. Sanctuary is one of them. Home to powerful wizards, ancient magic, wealthy merchants, and dangerous guilds, the city should be humanity's greatest hope for survival. Instead, its wizards are too busy fighting over power, politics, and their own interests to deal with the world dying around them. The Fae Queens are barely holding the last remnants of life together. The surface is dying. The city is cracking. And something is coming. Campaign Tone The campaign is heavily inspired by: Dragon Age Warhammer: Age of Sigmar The Witcher Dark Souls Forgotten Realms He Who Fights with Monsters Brandon Sanderson It's a mix of dark fantasy, exploration, large-scale battles, political conflict, strange magic, and player-driven choices. Your decisions can have lasting consequences on the city, its people, and the factions within it. Game Rules D&D 5e 2014 Mostly standard rules Most official 2014 content is allowed Tasha's Cauldron of Everything is generally allowed Very few house-rule adjustments Homebrew content is available for the setting, including some homebrew classes Character creation will be discussed with the group before play Game Requirements Foundry VTT installed on your PC Discord installed on your PC A good-quality microphone Ability to communicate clearly through Discord A reasonably quiet playing environment Reliable attendance Schedule Sundays: 8:15 AM – 11:15 AM CST There will be a 15-minute break in the middle of the session. The campaign is expected to run for approximately 3 months. What I'm Looking For I'm specifically looking for 5 players who already play together and have good chemistry as a group. You don't need to be professional roleplayers or hardcore D&D veterans. I'm mainly looking for a group that: Gets along well Works together Enjoys roleplay Is comfortable communicating over Discord Shows up consistently Wants to experience a campaign where their choices actually matter If your regular DM wants a break for a few months, this might be a good fit. If you're interested, send me a Reddit DM with a little information about your group: How long you've been playing together How many players are in the group Your general D&D experience Confirmation that Sunday 8:15–11:15 AM CST works for everyone A little about what your group enjoys most about D&D The Hook The world is dying. The surface has become a wasteland. Something from beyond this world has been feeding on the life of the planet, and the civilizations that once stood against it are mostly gone. What remains survives beneath the earth. Sanctuary is one of the last great cities of the mortal realm — a massive underground civilization built by people who fled the dying surface. It is a city of powerful wizards, ancient magic, wealthy merchants, dangerous guilds, and ordinary people simply trying to survive. But Sanctuary has a problem. The wizards who rule the city are too busy fighting over power, politics, research, and old grudges to agree on what should be done about the world outside. Meanwhile, the surface continues to die. You aren't a legendary hero. Not yet, anyway. You're an adventurer who needs gold. Fortunately, there's always work for people willing to risk their lives. The Retrievers Guild specializes in recovering magical artifacts, lost knowledge, and valuable resources from places no sane person would willingly visit. You've spent weeks looking for work. Today, you finally get a contract. A surface expedition. Good pay. Valuable discoveries. A chance to make a name for yourselves. Your group arrives at the Retrievers Guild warehouse. Hundreds of adventurers are preparing for the expedition. Wagons are being loaded. Weapons are being checked. Spells are being prepared. Your contract seems simple: Protect the expedition. Protect each other. Bring back what you find. But the surface has secrets. The Drow are moving. The Fae are dying. Something is hunting the survivors of the old world. And the deeper you get into the ruins of what came before, the more obvious it becomes that this expedition isn't just about treasure. The world is dying. Sanctuary is running out of time. And eventually, you'll have to decide what you're willing to do about it. Will you protect Sanctuary? Change it? Or burn it down and build something better? That choice belongs to you.
