Description

While the tensions between the U.G.N. and The Golden Horde heighten, a party of adventurers are sent out to North Silica along the Black Silver River to uncover an ancient artifact that could change the tide of the coming war entirely. Critical Mass: Chain Reaction is a Weird Fiction / Fantasy Adventure campaign set in the homebrew setting of ATYMOS, using the D&D5.5e rules, along with custom homebrew backgrounds, species, and subclasses. The tone of this campaign is light-horror post-apocalyptic fantasy, weird fiction with a lot of geopoliticial set pieces. It will mostly follow average, everyday adventurers from the world trying to navigate it while dealing with people from various factions and nations. LGBTQIA+ characters are expected and normalized in this setting. Be prepared for strange encounters, dealing with cruel monsters, and encountering deadly NPCs and monsters. Not everything in this setting is meant to be fought, especially not by you.    REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to play weekly on Wednesday, 5:30PM PST.
  • Access to a Discord account, and a browser. We will be using FoundryVTT as a virtual tabletop, and Discord to be able to call.
  • A baseline familiarity with the D&D 2024 Rules
EXPECTATIONS
  • An interest in collaborative storytelling and roleplay
  • A willingness to work together with the other players and the DM
  • This is a 70/30 Roleplay campaign, we’ll be doing a lot of roleplaying and combat will be sparse but deadly. The main expectation is to be levelling up slowly, and facing few enemies, spending the majority of your time in roleplay and exploration encounters. To me, Exploration and Roleplay are the same.
  • Please try to be present for all sessions. Depending on how many players end up in the campaign (I’m looking for 3-4), we won’t have the wiggle room for characters to disappear for sessions at a time.
  • I'm planning on having Session 0 on the 28th of January, starting at the regular time.
  • Show up without a character pre-made. This is a homebrew setting and a very specific group-goal, so I would like to work with you and the other players to create characters that work for this campaign.
  • While nothing is outright banned, please try and be mindful of the gameplay experience for other players, and yourself. If you try and build a character that can wipe out combat encounters in one turn but has nothing to do outside of combat, and everyone feels its unfun, expect to have a sit-down and discuss possible alternatives.
  • I will be experimenting with XP Leveling in this campaign, and have active discussions with players about how they feel about it.
  • If you have any questions about the setting or your character's place in it, I would love to have a 1 on 1 to discussion with you.
  • This is a given, but please be respectful to the other players.
SETTING: The Setting of ATYMOS primaries takes place on the continent of Nostia, a gloomy and sodden land healing from the scars of an ancient war that ended the technological age. Cross-continental nations rise out of the ashes of the old world, and factions fight for control of pre-war resources and current day populations. Most will spend their lives living in small wooden towns, using scraps and whatever they can find to make the most out of their lives. Others are enthralled in geopolitics, working for or with various nations to help achieve larger goals or to make their way in the world. As the monsters of the Age of Heroes have adapted, so too will the citizens have to adapt, to survive in ATYMOS. You are all hired adventurers from the U.G.N., on a mission to retrieve a mysterious artifact from before the war. You will have to track it down, as the U.G.N. only know if it through whispered words and rumors, and deal with anyone else who has caught the sent of this mystery. The setting features all of the Core D&D Playable Species, along with two custom species, the Longdead and the Mechanoid.

APPS CLOSED! (Thank you to all who applied!) “Let no soul of Cestead call the bounty of the deep his own until he hath laboured for its recovery. Prince and pauper, clerk and captain, each shall take his appointed turn aboard the ships of scavenging; for the city is built from what the sea relinquishes, and no citizen may share in its shelter who will not first share in its gathering.” — The Admiral’s Primer, Volume IX: On Service and the Common Salvage, Verse 12 *** When the world ended, everything changed. The series of natural disasters that shattered the land and raised the sea levels meant the nations of the world were no longer a force to reckoned with. In fact, they were no longer anything at all. The oceans of the world churned and roiled and when they finally calmed, there was no land left for civilization to stand on. But that didn’t mean there was nothing left; out in the limitless wash of water that the world had become, five ships had - through happenstance or fate - come together and lashed themselves together to ride out the storm. As time went by, other ships would find them on the sea, and join them for safety and security forming a makeshift city on the water, the last bastion of life, the final floating example of culture and society - Cestead. You’ve recently returned from your second sea scavenging mission - a full month away from your floating home - but the promise of an actual payday and more Noted status got you back on the boat as soon as the opportunity was offered to you. The law states that everyone must do their time on the Gathering Runs, but only the desperately brave, or the bravely desperate do a second; and those who do more are usually somehow both. As you disembark, and return to the Gather to receive your pay, you don’t see the person watching you carry your single bag of belongings away from the docks, as you start to smell the scents and see the sights of home that you either missed, or wanted to escape in the first place. But rest assured, they saw you, and made a decision to offer you another way to achieve your goals; whether or not you choose to meet them and take them up on their offer is entirely up to you. But here on Cestead, the quiet rarely prosper, and the taste of salt on your face is perhaps growing tiresome. Wouldn’t you like to see what you can make for yourself, or make for your family? Some offers are too good to be refused, after all… *** “I don’t understand people who envy the Landsworn - staying in the same place every day, every week, every month? It would drive me crazy.” - Boranabys, of Civitas Shed, Port Side *** Greetings, adventurer! We are a powerful duo of 2 DMs (one early 30s and one late 30s) looking for one player to round out our party for a long-term homebrew campaign. We currently have a group of four players already playing, and we would love to find a wonderful fifth! We welcome everyone, especially want to encourage people of color, women, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community to apply! We want our game to be a collaborative, safe and fun place for everyone involved so we intend to be very thoughtful and selective throughout the recruitment process. Absolutely no racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia or any other discriminatory behavior will be tolerated. This game is online so applicants should have a reliable internet connection and good quality mic and webcam as we intend to play with video to facilitate nonverbal communication in-game. We understand that not everyone may be comfortable with video, but we feel it’s necessary for the collaborative and connected storytelling experience that we are looking for in this campaign. We will be using D&D 5e (2014) as a ruleset, though the world and the characters are entirely homebrew - though if you have a particular love for 5.5e, we are certainly willing to hear you out! Sessions will be held weekly on Wednesdays at 6:00pm CST for approximately 3.5 hours. We’ll use Roll20 for the VTT, Discord for voice/video, and D&D Beyond for character sheets (with Beyond20 browser plugin). Before applying, please ensure that you are available at this time and able to commit to attend sessions every week (exceptions for missing games occasionally due to life events, of course). While we don’t plan to include any mature content, we will only consider applicants who are at least 18+. No prior experience with D&D is necessary, but applicants should be interested in a story-driven campaign with lots of roleplay (since that’s one of the things we enjoy the most) and be willing to invest time in creating an interesting character that fits the world and supports the party. We expect players to remain in-character during sessions (bonus points for doing a character voice, but not required), avoid metagaming, and be collaborative and respectful. No min/maxers, spotlight hogs, loot hoarders, or PVP will be allowed. To be sure that you have read this far, please list your favorite magic item and why in the last question of your application. We plan to keep the application open until Friday 23rd, so please be patient while we review everyone’s application. We will reach out to select applicants over Discord to arrange an interview with us. “For what is Fate but a Master of Tales, A Storyteller with a cast of all, And if tragedy treats you like a pawn, Wouldst comedy feel better with the fall?” A Chill To The Bone, Act 3, Scene 2 Application link closed

Hello, My name is blu I'm looking for a group to play with in a bleach based campaign and a DM willing to run it Theres a Source book everyone will be able to get onto for free at all times online and I have saved the CS's thats specially made for the source book, all I'm looking for is up to 3 other players who want to try the class/races within the book and a dm willing to build a campaign based around the SB. I will send or put the SB somewhere in the dis server or if you want to peak at it sooner I can send it to you before joining the server. What would I like to play as? A soul reaper based would be preferable over others but also for extra challenge a hollow campagin could be fun if we can fighure out how to do it. why bleach over normal dnd? 1. why not, 2. bc I really like bleach. how long of a campaign do I want? Up to the dm and players but I'd like a longer campaign. what level to start on? id like to start at level 1 to take the steps of what you are gaining within the book and gain more of a understanding of the class or classes in the SB. Finally where can you contact me? Just dm here and ask, I want to know that I'm getting friended and not just randomly get a friend request and ignore it. 1, big thing I don't want is NO GEN AI AT ALL, please if you like using gen AI please don't bother, I don't want to see AI "art". 2, No homo, trans, or any other phobs, or isims, I won't take it and kick you out of the group myself. IF the group works well together I'd like to dm a Campaign of my own with the same group so if you're dming this campaign you can look forward to a campaign after we're done playing this one. Thank you for reading I hope to see someone or  multiple people ready to play. Blu UwU
