Description

The Astral Plane collapsed. As the backbone that binds the planes together, its fall shattered the very boundaries between realms—Material, Elemental, Ethereal, and beyond. The devastation rippled across existence, tearing rifts, unraveling magic, and breaking the order of reality itself. No one knows why it happened—or why, centuries later, the Astral Plane eventually stabilized again. But the world that remains is not the one that was. While other races escaped to their native planes during the chaos, humans were stranded in the Material Plane—ground zero of the catastrophe. From the ruins rose three human tribes—two of which forged their own kingdoms. The third, the Nurian Tribe, mastered unmatched magical technology… but vanished mysteriously just before the world began to recover. It is now 800 years since the Collapse. The world has endured, evolved, and expanded—but much remains unknown. A World Reborn, Yet Unfamiliar The continent now known as Miras bears little resemblance to the world before. Centuries after the Collapse, a second landmass—Iodoris—was discovered, hidden behind violent storms. Its existence raised questions: if it took so long to find Iodoris, what else lies undiscovered? Even now, echoes of the planar rupture linger. Some lands shimmer with residual magic. Others conceal secrets untouched since the Fall. Exploration Awaits
  • Uncover the fate of the Nurian Tribe
  • Discover perspectives and paths hidden since the Collapse
  • Encounter forces and places reshaped by planar instability
  • Help redefine a world still healing from cosmic ruin
About Iodoris A continent inspired by Eastern and Far Eastern cultures (Chinese & Japanese themes), home to unique races and traditions:
  • Kitsune
  • Half-Oni
  • Tortal
  • Pandafolk
…and more. Optional StoryPaths System StoryPaths are optional narrative arcs tied to your character’s journey. Choosing one may:
  • Grant unique magical items or custom features
  • Enhance your class, race, or unlock prestige-style traits
  • Reveal hidden aspects of the story—perspectives otherwise unseen
  • Trigger alternate events, affect factions, or shift the path of an entire arc
Perfect for both veterans and new players who want help shaping their story. StoryPaths are never required—but they change everything. Campaign Details

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Hello everyone, Alex here! I am a new GM on Start Playing, and I am looking for players for my mini campaign. I am hoping to become a full-time GM and figured this was the best way to start. A bit about me: I've been a GM for 7 years. I am an artist, illustrator, animator, voice actor, and writer. And I absolutely love roleplaying!  Game Premise: In the world of Anangnibi (pronounced Ah-nahng-nee-bee) there looms a threat to the local towns and villages outside of a major port city called Agonan Mizhakwad (pronounced Ah-goh-nahn Meez-hahk-wahd). Reports of attacks have become more frequent and many have claimed to see a flying creature up within the mountains. Maps indicate that there is an old fort that has been empty for quite some time in the area. The local authorities have put up a reward for heroes to go and investigate the area and find out what has been happening. You as the heroes will find yourselves walking into the mountains to find the old hold, and once you get there, you'll find out that you have gotten far more than you bargained for. Who, or what, awaits within the halls of old abandoned stone? And will you survive the secrets within? Or will you be claimed by death much the same as those of the poor raided villages? Death lurks here, cold and indifferent like the sitting stone. You will need your strength and wit if you want to survive. So be prepared to face the challenges and discover the mystery of what hides within the mountain stone. Game Price: $25 per person  Session count: 1-3 sessions Session length: 4-5 hours Player Character Level: 5 System: D&D 5E Sourcebooks accepted: PHB 14, XGE, TCE, VGM (Other sourcebooks are open to discussion) Homebrew and 3rd Party: Open to discussion More information and details about the game can be found here on the Start Playing post: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmt21mabu0037l404tjn7c32u?ref=cmrmikhi800frl704k6ca84nl  Content warning: While I am a newbie player friendly DM/GM, the game I am running is a DEADLY game with a DEADLY dungeon; your characters have a high chance of dying. Please keep that in mind for this game. If you are not okay with character death, this may not be the game for you.  If you have any additional questions, please feel free to message me, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  You can also get some more general information about me as a GM, as well as read previous player reviews through my Start Playing GM Profile here:  https://startplaying.games/gm/alexthedmpanda Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

D&D "The Sea of Fallen Stars" new players friendly

Paid game
The Game Master charges a fee to run the game.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
One would think the Sea of Fallen Stars ought to be gentler than wide fathomless expanses of Faeruns oceans. One would be dangerously wrong. Ships inbound for Alaghon are going missing all the time: to be capsized by slavers, boarded by pirates is a comparably lucky fate. Less fortunate crews are gone entirely without trace in hours, only floating splinters left to show their fate. Your crew might not be among the lucky: this night, you are woken up by a loud horrid crack and sound of gushing saltwater, shaken like loose pebbles in Sapphire's hold by some unseen calamity and thrown out into the water, when her hull crumples to pieces. You should have drowned. And yet, when your lungs spasm for oxygen and you gulp in water, it sustains you as well as air. Something has preserved your lives. What, you wander, will it demand in return? System: DnD 5e; Setting: Faerûn / Forgotten Realms; Character Level: 1. Payment: 25$ per person. About the Dungeon master: I'm Julia, a Ukrainian TTRPG GM since 2018, GMing online since 2022. Most campaigns have been played in D&D 5e, and several in Vampire: The Masquerade, Changeling: The Lost, and Blades in the Dark. I prefer character-driven narratives with grittier political subplots, but still with a good amount of combat and shenanigans™ Contact me to register. (This saturday at 12 p.m. (UTC+3))

Horror
The game leans into fear, tension and dark themes.
this is a beginner friendly campaign that is inspired by the game series mass effect So you and your group of friends were still drunk that when you stumbled into the woods and found a strange and abandoned space ship, completely unaware its a nautiloid ship that's used by mind flayers well you and your friends stole it and started having a bunch of adventures including intergalactic ones where you even recruited some people to join you to keep this spaceship running. only to eventually stumble onto evidence that a group of more zealot than normal gith and mind flayers have created a TERRIBLE alliance and are preparing to dominate the galaxy and sword coast so its up to you and your stolen space ship to stop it This game has heavy rpg element's, puzzles and mystery and a focus of not just the main campaign but finding allies and recruiting for your new ship Content warnings  Body Horror Extreme Violence Execution Genocide Gore Kidnapping Mass Death Talk of Superior Race Terrorism In Session 0, I discuss player boundaries and also share my own boundaries as the DM. It’s also a great opportunity to set clear expectations for the campaign before we start playing. If any issues arise later for any reason, I’m happy to hold another Session 0 to revisit boundaries and safety tools together. During sessions, I build in regular breaks (usually 5–10 minutes, or longer if needed). These give everyone a chance to rest mentally, grab something to eat, or take care of personal needs. Players are always welcome to request a break at any time. During more intense sessions or scenes, I remind everyone that my private messages (DMs) are always open. If you ever feel uncomfortable but don’t want to speak up in the moment, you can message me privately. I take all feedback seriously and will prioritize your comfort. At the end of intense sessions, I always do a quick check-in to make sure everyone is okay Payment is weekly through startplaying  Link to startplaying to sign up or for more information
