Description

Edit: (Really don't know why this is getting asked so much, but yes, I am LGBTQ friendly.) Hi everyone! this is pretty much just a copy pasted concept post from my roll20 ad, but I wanted to post it here to see if I could get any traction! I am a dm with about 10 years of experience, dming since I was about 15. I personally enjoy heavy amounts of roleplay and character growth, as well as making my players actually feel something when they play the game. I am looking for players who are roleplay forward and actually want to engage with my world and story, not just be railroaded through plots. I'd say I try pretty hard, I do my best to do voices for every character, make almost every single map I use myself, and love working with players to make their story arc/character design really come into full swing. I'd really like to just make it clear that I'm open to anyone who is both capable of clearly speaking during session, and can comprehend mechanics well enough to not need to ask what their class does every turn. I am not interested in new players that have 0 experience in tabletops, but I am fine with players who have almost 0 experience in dnd 5E despite having experience in other games. ~~~~ A modern day city, full of people all minding their own business. Perhaps you were a traveler coming to the city for some kind of business trip. Perhaps a teacher on an off day, a bakery owner who'd just finished setting up their shop for the morning rush. Regardless of what you were, you're something different now. In a flash the calm and easily presumed atmosphere of the city has devolved into chaos. Blood lines the streets as creatures far from normality seem to be brutally murdering those in the streets. Most cower and hide away from these creatures, these beasts. Some rise up to the task of defending their fellow citizens and begin to fight these creatures tooth and nail. Chairs, steak knives, even their own hands and feet, people fight back. Soon after a great deal of violence has settled a great number of people have what seems like a video game screen appear in front of their face. The interface seems crisp, seamless as if it's really physically there. A few words bring a horrifying reality to be known. " Greetings, you have been invited to the game of the Gods. " Hello! Welcome to my pretty shameless rip of a theme and story inspired by a webtoon called 'return to player'. Whilst the idea of the setting and etc are heavily inspired by the webtoon, the direct plot and progression of the story is not! I will be pretty blunt, this game is meant to be a more tactical and brutal game wherein the players must train and attain great strength to eventually beat the end goal. (This will probably take quite a while.) Players will have access to a vastly revised character growth system! Most of the changes I've made will be explained in the contents of this google doc. Log in to view NOTE: I am starting everyone at level one! Only races in the document are allowed! Note, not every change is present here, as I may addendum some things when players make characters, or through the game if I feel a player is not performing up to snuff due to mechanical limitations. Martials will have a far greater sense of power scaling in this setting, and will have a great deal more potential abilities to use. Getting into the actual SETTING of the campaign, this is a completely modern day and real world setting campaign. Every god from mythology is canon. (As well as H.P lovecraft gods for some reason.) However for obvious reasons, i'd prefer we don't touch on gods or religions that people IRL consistently worship. (I find it highly unlikely we'd offend some norse pagan by roleplaying Odin and etc.) With that said, the game will likely be set in the U.S because i have little knowledge of intricate social and geographical things outside of my own country. The game will run about 4-5 hours on average, and maybe later some nights depending. Players can fully expect to be rewarded for interesting characters, and will have basically full creative freedom to pitch ideas for unique character concepts! (Barring very extreme ones that I would struggle to balance.) With all this mentioned, please feel free to contact me with further questions that you feel are unresolved. Discord will be used for voice calls! (This is a copy paste of the roll20 Ad, please apply there!) Log in to view

Elaria: Breaking the Chains Elaria is a land of powerful kingdoms, ancient magic, and prosperity built upon slavery. Humans, orcs, beastkin, prisoners, and countless others are bought and sold while those in power grow wealthy from their suffering. Within the slaves social circle classes have been established, the house slaves see themselves as better then those who work the grounds and so on. The party begins as ordinary adventurers with no army, rebellion, or grand destiny. But as they travel across Elaria and witness the cruelty of its kingdoms, they will have opportunities to fight back. You will not start in a inn or town, it will be a suprise Freeing a few slaves can become rescuing a village. A rescued village can become allies. Allies can become soldiers and soldiers can become a rebellion. The players will build that rebellion themselves—recruiting allies, establishing bases, gathering resources, liberating territory, and deciding how far they are willing to go to end slavery. Eventually, Elaria's kings will learn their names. The only question is whether history will remember them as heroes, rebels, or something far more dangerous.
