PORK MORT

An old-school roleplaying game by old-school roleplaying gamers

Overview

PORK MORT is an old-school fantasy tabletop roleplaying game inspired by Balearic folklore and traditional folktales. Created by Sergio Amat, Mercedes Prats, Jaume Mayans and Daniela Kropeit, the game combines dark fantasy, absurd humor and a distinctive visual style in a strange and dangerous world known simply as The Island. Players take on the roles of unlikely adventurers trying to survive in a land inhabited by witches, giants, demons, talking animals and other bizarre creatures drawn from Mediterranean folklore. Exploration, danger, unpredictable encounters and dark comedy are at the heart of the game.  PORK MORT uses a fast, rules-light system that is fully compatible with
MÖRK BORG https://groupfinder.gg/library/mork-borg-2020
, allowing characters, monsters and adventures to be easily used between both games.

Description

In PORK MORT, players take on the roles of disgraced knights, peasants forced into adventure, cursed hunchbacks, outcast bear-men and other kinds of antiheroes trying to survive on The Island, a magical land ruled by the Porkos (pig-men), who govern all its inhabitants with an iron hoof.  As if that were not enough, the Moiras (anthropomorphic spiders who can supposedly predict the future) have foretold that three of the four pillars supporting The Island have collapsed, and that the end is near. The game prioritizes creativity and exploration, with simple rules designed to adapt to any crazy situation the players might encounter on their journey to become something more than mere wanderers, perhaps even the protagonists of the tales of the future.

System overview & Key features

Player-Facing d20 Rolls

The mechanic is simple: players roll a d20 and add the modifiers from their main attributes and basic abilities to beat a Difficulty Rating, which is normally 12. Players roll both to attack and defend, making them solely responsible for their own fate.

End of the World Calendar

At the beginning of each session, the Game Master makes a roll to see whether one of the calamities foretold by the Moiras and their leader, the Balanguera, comes to pass. Once seven calamities have occurred, the last seal will be broken, the final pillar supporting The Island will fall, and all will dance in Death’s wake as the sea reclaims what is rightfully its own, devouring The Island.

Blessings (OMENS)

Each player starts each day with a certain number of Blessings, depending on their class. They are key to survival, and players must use them wisely. However, they also come with a risk: players should not call upon the gods for help in vain, or they may be in for an unpleasant surprise.

Magic

There is White Magic and Black Magic, depending on whether a character deals more with gods or with demons. But no matter where it comes from, magic is dangerous, even for the one who casts it.

Pact with a Demon

When a player has no Blessings left, they can make up to one pact per day (two for the Witch class) with their personal demon to immediately gain a Blessing. But this favor comes at a price: the player will have to gamble a piece of their soul with the demon, and they had better not lose.

Broken Bodies

When players reach 0 or fewer HP, they roll on a table to determine the consequences. The table has four possible outcomes: unconsciousness, loss of a limb or an eye, bleeding out, or death.

Syrinscape

Audio & Music
Free
Syrinscape is a revolutionary sound design application created by Benjamin Loomes and the team at Syrinscape Pty Ltd. Unlike simple music players, it uses a sophisticated algorithmic engine to create dynamic, non repeating soundscapes that react to the events of a tabletop game. It is the official audio partner for major brands like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, and Call of Cthulhu, offering hundreds of professionally produced "SoundSets" that provide everything from cinematic orchestral scores to specific monster growls and spell effects. Description Syrinscape is built on the philosophy that "Epic Games Need Epic Sound." It provides Game Masters with a powerful digital soundboard where every element of an environment is independently controlled. Instead of playing a single audio loop, the app randomly triggers individual sounds—like a distant wolf howl, a creaking door, or a tavern patron’s laugh—to create a living, breathing atmosphere. It is available as a downloadable app for offline play or as a high performance Web Player for remote sessions. System Overview & Key Features The Dynamic Audio Engine The core of Syrinscape is its ability to randomize sound samples in time and 3D space. This ensures that a "forest" soundscape never sounds exactly the same twice, preventing the listener fatigue that often comes from short, repetitive audio loops found in standard music players. One Shot Sound Effects Beyond ambient music, the app features dedicated buttons for instant sound effects. A GM can trigger a fireball explosion, a dragon screech, or a critical hit stinger at the exact moment a player rolls the dice, adding a cinematic punctuation to the narrative. Official Adventure SoundSets Syrinscape produces bespoke audio for official RPG modules. When running a major campaign like Curse of Strahd or Abomination Vaults, GMs can access SoundSets designed specifically for every room and encounter in the book, including character voices and unique environmental cues. The Web Player and Online Player For remote play, the Web Player allows players to hear the GM's audio in perfect sync through their own browsers without needing an account. It is highly optimized for low latency and high quality, making it a perfect companion for Discord based games. SoundSet Creator Advanced users with a SuperSyrin subscription can access the SoundSet Creator tool. This allows you to upload your own music and samples, mix them with existing Syrinscape elements, and build completely custom environments tailored to your specific campaign world. VTT Integration Syrinscape features deep integration with platforms like Fantasy Grounds and Foundry VTT. This allows the software to trigger specific sounds automatically based on in game events, such as a character taking damage or a trap being sprung. Update log - 10.04.2026 "Visit the library"

Another month, another big update. Happy April everyone.  We have been busy in the background improving Groupfinder to make it an even better place to find players or groups. But in addition to your finding journey, we have also finalized our current version of the library, which will help you all with discovering old and new tools and platforms, content creators, communities and will introduce you to various game systems.  For those, who might be interested - we recently published an article where we examined the statistics and listed the most popular systems according to your posts and groups. The library This is a big one. The library is a comprehensive collection of various tabletop gaming related resources. Whether you are looking for a virtual tabletop to run your games on, or need help creating a map for your campaigns. If you want to learn more about the hobby and discover various content creators, whether a Youtube channel for second-monitor viewing, blogs to read up on various news, guides, tips or other ideas, artists to hire to commission your character's unique artwork, or even podcasts to listen to - the library is the place to find those. Game systems You know Dungeons & Dragons, but do you know about the other systems that exist? Some more specialized in combat, others with more story-driven focus. Or do you want to run a vampire-themed game? Or something set in the space? Take a look at the various game systems, read about them and perhaps you will head back to your own player profile and add some additional systems that you would like to try out. Tools & Platforms The hobby-space is filled with creative people creating various tools for various purposes: mapbuilding, character creation, virtual tabletops, music and sounds, generators, worldbuilding and more. See if there are tools to make your or your group's life easier. Creators Whether you like to watch Youtube videos, listen to podcasts or read blog articles - this is your place to learn more about the nitty-gritty of the hobby. Whether to keep up with the news regarding the TTRPG hobby, follow along someone else's actual play journey or read about the ins and outs of the hobby. Or if you are looking for an artist to commission for an artwork - we have some of those as well. Communities & Events Hosting a public tabletop-related event and want people to discover and join it? Spread the word. Or if you are running a Discord or other type of a community, whether online or offline - this is the place to get the word out. Gather people and grow with the hobby. /images/general-media/1775848937_OGEqvwGB.jpgThe library is evergrowing. Submit your own projects or entries. All the library entries are sorted by recommended first. The more recommendations the entry has, the better it's position will be in their category. If you are interested in featuring your entry, you can get in touch with us and we'll tell you more about how you can get your post to be discovered by more people. As you can currently see, the library in some categories is quite empty. We invite everyone to submit their entry to it. Read more about how to submit here. And visit the library Layout changes In addition, during the past month we have slightly updated the way player and group posts look. Hopefully this will help you introduce yourself or your group a bit better. If you are curious about how to improve your profile even more - go ahead and read this guide article here. In addition to the post layout, you can see our updated footer, providing a better navigation to various bits and pieces of the platform. Also the creator spotlight section has been updated to provide a more clear layout to learn more about various projects in the hobby space. If you have a project you would like to spotlight, you can read more about the whole process here. These spotlighted projects are what help us keep working on the platform, cover our running costs and help us keep it free forever. We polished the chat with a few visual and functional improvements. Users can now @mention someone in the group chat. You can also react to a post, to show support or your feelings towards whatever thing they said. Wide As you can see, the whole platform is now wider (Or if you are on mobile, you can't see. But take our word for it). This improvement will help us provide a better user experience, as our interface is less busy now. The header has been updated and now includes the link to the library. On mobile, you have a brand new menu - again to provide a clearer visual experience and help you navigate the platform even better. Notifications Want to stay updated when someone contacts you? Or a game/player is added that might be interesting to you? You can head over to the Account page and adjust your notifications there. Notifications in the mobile app provide a better preview of what the notification is all about, so you can either swipe it away or open it, should it be important. /images/general-media/1775849670_l0NrsMZa.jpgDon't let yourself get overwhelmed with notifications or e-mails. Choose what is relevant to you and stay in the loop. Unofficial iOS app If you are an iPhone user, you can now see a message at the bottom of the page, that will guide you towards adding our unofficial Groupfinder app on your phone. It will send you relevant notifications and help you keep up with all the important bits. That wraps it up for now Thank you to all who have found their way to Groupfinder. If you have any feedback regarding the platform, please let us know, it doesn't have to be a long in-depth commentary or structured letter. Just get in touch with us or send me a mail (holger@groupfinder.eu) and I promise to read all of your mails.  Whether to praise us, or to let us know of a feature the platform is missing, we welcome both. And as a final note - if you have found Groupfinder to be helpful to you so far. Or you want to help it become even more popular (so you have more players/games to choose from) - spread the word. Tell people on Reddit, Facebook, X, Bluesky, Discord or any other channel about Groupfinder. We will love you to bits. Till next time.
