Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (2018)

Overview

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay or Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play (abbreviated to WFRP or WHFRP) is a role-playing game set in the Warhammer Fantasy setting. The fourth edition rooted in the first and second editions was released under licence by Cubicle 7 in 2018. The system it directly evolved from is
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition
Description The primary setting of WFRP is the Empire, a faction located in a region of the "Old World", that is based loosely on the Holy Roman Empire, with a number of baronies, counties and dukedoms fashioned after the fiefs of elector counts and dukes. One of the most identifiable features of the Warhammer setting is Chaos. While the forces of Chaos in Warhammer Fantasy Battle are depicted primarily in the form of bloodthirsty marauders, towering dark knights and savage beastmen, Chaos in WFRP is an insidious force gnawing at the fabric of society. System Overview & Key Features
The Career System Instead of fixed classes, characters enter specific Careers like Boatman, Grave Robber, or Wizard Apprentice. You spend experience points to advance within your career or transition to a related one. This represents your character's actual life and job in the world rather than just their combat role.
Brutal Critical Injuries Hit points are low and do not increase much as you level. When a character is hit while they have no remaining Advantage or are critically struck, the player must roll on gruesome tables. These results range from minor scars to losing an eye, a limb, or your life.
Corruption and Sin Magic is inherently dangerous and tied to the Winds of Chaos. Using magic or encountering dark artifacts can grant Corruption points. If your Corruption exceeds your willpower, you may develop physical mutations or mental instability, eventually turning into a servant of the Dark Gods.
Fate and Resilience Characters have limited pools of Fate and Resilience points. Fate can be spent to avoid certain death, while Resilience allows you to ignore the effects of a mutation or a critical hit. These are rare and precious resources that represent the character's sheer stubbornness to stay alive in a doomed world.

Hello, I've been playing TTRPGs on and off for about 10 years now. Played with different systems and on different platforms over the years (mostly Pathfinder 2e recently). Don't have a favorite system but hoping to play and learn AD&D, willing to learn and try new games (have a preference for fantasy settings). Timezone is CET and should be free on almost everyday of the week in the evening. Thanks.

I'm kinda new at d&d have been wanting to play since I was 10 now I'm 17. I've also only played 4 sessions at a old school now I'm looking for a new more permanent group hopefully someone will let me join. I do have the 5e rulebook but not the 2024 ones. Also they are kinda beat up haven't used them in years. Also always wanted to play frostgrave, trench crusade, and star wars legions. Also the main deal breakers are paid games and distance. I do live in a small town of only a couple hundred people and I don't think there's any groups nearby but I could be wrong.

About Me I’m a long-time tabletop player and Dungeon Master who’s been around the hobby since the 80s. I stepped away for a while due to real-life commitments (kids, etc.), but I’ve been back in the hobby for the past few years and fully invested again. I currently run a 1st Edition AD&D campaign on Wednesday nights, so I understand the effort that goes into running a game and always respect the DM’s time and rulings. I’m reliable, punctual, and if I commit to a campaign, I stick with it. Playstyle I enjoy character-driven games, strong party dynamics, and meaningful choices. I like worlds that react to players and where decisions actually matter. I’m equally happy with: Serious, grounded, or dark games as well as Lighter, silly, or zany systems I don’t force humour or grimdark—it should come naturally from the table and the situation. Combat-wise, I prefer encounters that feel dangerous or purposeful, rather than filler. At the table I: Engage with the world and NPCs Support the group (no lone-wolf disruption) Play characters with clear motivations and flaws Match the tone of the campaign Experience I’ve played (and in some cases run) a wide range of systems over the years, including: Call of Cthulhu The White Wolf Games (Vampire: The Masquerade, Mage: The Ascension, Werewolf: The Apocalypse etc) Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (1E) Original Dungeons & Dragons (1974) Traveller Paranoia SpaceMaster Stormbringer Pendragon LARP systems and more.... I’m comfortable with everything from old-school lethal play to narrative-heavy systems. I tend to prefer games with a bit more edge, tension, or mechanical weight, but I’m very open to learning new systems with a beginner-friendly group. System Preferences I generally lean toward OSR-style play, horror, or grounded fantasy, but I’m flexible if the group and DM are a good fit. What I’m Looking For A consistent group that values commitment A DM who enjoys player agency and consequences A balance of roleplay, exploration, and meaningful combat A game with some depth or immersion, whether serious or occasionally zany Character Approach (Example Concept) I usually build characters around the era/setting, but I gravitate toward: Pragmatic survivors with questionable morals Loyal but dangerous allies Characters shaped by the world rather than destined heroes I like creating interesting tension without disrupting the party. A Bit of Personality I enjoy grounded fantasy, horror, and morally grey storytelling—but I also appreciate humour when it fits naturally at the table. Having been on both sides of the screen, I try to be the kind of player I’d want in my own game. Final Notes Looking to join a group where I can engage with the world, contribute to the party, and commit long-term.

Scarlet Heroes

English
Scarlet Heroes is an old-school tabletop role-playing game designed by Kevin Crawford and published by Sine Nomine Publishing in 2014. Built on the chassis of early fantasy role-playing games, it is explicitly engineered to support "duet" play (one Game Master and one player) or completely un-GMed solo play. The system functions both as a standalone game and as a mechanical conversion overlay, allowing a single player character to survive and conquer classic modules written for a full party of four to six adventurers without any structural modifications to the adventure itself. Description The default setting for Scarlet Heroes is the Red Tide, a dark, sword-and-sorcery fantasy world where the remnants of humanity have fled to an isolated archipelago known as the Sunset Isles to escape a world-devouring crimson mist. In this setting, players choose from traditional fantasy heritages and step into classic archetypes: the Fighter, Cleric, Thief, or Magic-User. However, the true focus of the ruleset is its revolutionary math-rebalancing engine. Traditional early-edition fantasy games are notoriously lethal for solo characters due to the "action economy" favoring groups of monsters. Scarlet Heroes alters how standard numbers are interpreted, transforming a single baseline character into a legendary epic hero who can cleave through hordes of lesser foes while preserving the danger of boss monsters. Call of Cthulhu (2014)

English
Released in 2014 by Chaosium, Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition is the latest version of the cult-classic cosmic eldritch horror role-playing system originally launched in 1981. The story is based off of the  literary works of H.P. Lovecraft and lovecraftian works. Instead of setting the players up as heroes, the characters are regular investigators who are exploring cults, forbidden knowledge and various eldritch-cosmic entitites and threats. Description Occupations in the game for the characters include academics, reporters, and private investigators. The gameplay loop revolves around uncovering information, analyzing clues, and evading dangers. As the supernatural elements in the game are considered more powerful than the investigators, they have are not expected to actually confront most of the threats head on. Instead they usually have to resort to avoiding or escaping any situation that may arise. Combat is lethal and usually leads to characters getting permanently killed or pushed to insanity (which eventually is the same).  System Overview & Key Features Percentile Framework (d100) Every action is resolved by rolling two ten-sided (d10) dice to get a result from 1 to 100. If you roll is equal to or under your skill rating, the action is deemed a success. This approach simplifies the mechanical process of the game, as there are no complex tables to keep track of and compare to decypher whether it is a success or failure. Pushed Rolls If a character fails a skill check, they may attempt to "push" the roll, allowing for a second attempt. This requires the player to come up with a new, more desperate approach to performing the task. If this subsequent pushed roll also fails, the Keeper describes a severe and immediate negative consequence. Sanity and Madness A core mechanic of the system is the tracking of mental stability. Investigators lose points from their Sanity gauge when exposed to anomalous creatures or disturbing truths. Drops in Sanity result in the character experiencing temporary or permanent forms of madness, which can manifest as new phobias, delusions, or a temporary loss of player agency over the character. Bonus and Penalty Dice To account for situational advantages or disadvantages, the game employs a system of bonus and penalty dice. If a character possesses a distinct advantage when performing a task, an extra d10 is rolled and taking the higher result. A disadvantage means rolling an extra d10 and taking the lower result. Combat Lethality Physical altercations are inherently dangerous by design. Investigators possess limited hit points, and the damage output of both conventional firearms and anomalous entities is high. Recovery mechanics are slow, simulating realistic healing times. This structural lethality serves to discourage combat and incentivize stealth and investigation. Expendable Luck Players can spend points from their character's Luck pool to retroactively lower a dice roll. The points are subtracted on a one-to-one basis until the dice result qualifies as a success. This ensures that the Luck pool is a limited resource which should be used and utilized in the most critical situations. Update log - 13.05.2026 “A year of Groupfinder”

Its gonna be May. /images/general-media/1778679800_avRWtoFC.gifThis is gonna ruin the tour... Well, it already is May - and its time for this month’s overview of what we have done during the last month. We would like to keep you updated as to how the platform is evolving and growing - especially since many of our updates might be something you have not noticed (you can read the last month's update log here). Birthday.. Of sorts It was the end of April of last year when we released the current version of Groupfinder. Partly. Most of you might not be aware that Groupfinder was first launched in 2021. We first created the platform for the Estonian TTRPG community to help our local players find groups and players more easily. And it was well-received and used, prompting us to keep working on it, improving and tweaking. /images/general-media/1778679949_qEWkiP3e.jpgHow far we've come since 2021.  Many years later, we decided to step it up a notch and redesign the entire platform and open it up to the world. More than half a year later, Groupfinder (now called Groupfinder, not Grupileidja) was finally released. It took us a few months before we were ready for the global audience. In september, we had our ducks in a row and we started spreading the word about the platform. Users from all over the world slowly started discovering the site and signing up. Gaining initial traction was a difficult task - users would not bother to use Groupfinder, because there weren’t users on the platform. A vicious circle that eventually was resolved thanks to our early pioneers, willing to give us a shot and posted their profiles and groups here. And now, a year later, we can see the platform has almost 6000 registered users with over 1500 active profiles and almost 700 active groups.    Players and systems During the last month, we improved player post creation - choosing the game system is now more visual and clearer. In addition - the process has been integrated with the Library. If a system exists there, it will be more visually distinct. As well as linked to the corresponding Library entry page. Hopefully more players will discover alternative systems to try out. /images/general-media/1778680166_bQADP9rj.pngChoosing the correct systems has never been easier. On Groupfinder The player profile page itself has also been updated and refreshed in multiple ways, making your profile a better calling card for you. Panel is Dashboard We used to call the homepage, the Panel. But we realized, that it didn’t make that much sense to most users. So it is now Dashboard. Not a huge change - but a change nonetheless. The dashboard also received multiple updates and tweaks to make things less cluttered and messy. Library is getting stocked During the month, the library has received multiple new entries. By multiple - I believe we can say well over a hundred new entries have been added. There are multiple new tools, video creators and podcasts/actual play entries for you to discover. Waiting for your next session? Perfect time to start enjoying an actual play series to keep the hype going and perhaps be inspired by the way other groups play. Article series “Covering the basics” We also started with an introductory blog series called “Covering the basics”. Something to guide new players taking their first steps in the hobby. Currently there is one for “Making a character” and one for “How to start as a Dungeon Master”.    And while not part of the series, you might want to take a look at the “Safety tools” article. Something to consider when starting a group with people you’ve never played with before. Tweaks & fixes We've kept a watchful eye on various bugs and problems that needed addressing. The mobile notifications were overly aggressive and at times got a bit spammy - we've told the messenger to calm down.  In messenger you can now react to messages, making it easier for you to agree upon a certain ruling or arrangement. Or, if you like, you can send an image of surprised Pikachu. Sending images in messenger is now possible. Sending a message to someone, but they just won't respond? Hover over their timezone on their profile and see what time it is for them. Maybe they are sleeping. Maybe you should also be? May-be that is all Thanks for reading this month’s update. We will keep on working on things in the background. You can join the Groupfinder discord server if you want to share some thoughts or problems with the platform.   And as always - if you have found Groupfinder useful in any way - be sure to share it with others. Either via a social media post, or just tell your friends about it. You sharing Groupfinder helps us grow. And with more users - more groups. Till next time.
