Description

The year is 1947. The smoke of the Second World War still lingers in the air, and the world moves forward with a fragile optimism it hasn't yet completely earned. But beneath the surface of the rebuilding cities and returning soldiers, beneath the jazz drifting out of late-night clubs and the rain pooling on cobblestone streets, something.... ancient... is stirring. There are cracks in the world, no -I don't mean the pavement-  and through those cracks, things are beginning to bleed through. Power oozing from other dimensions. Flickers of magic in places where magic shouldn't exist. People vanishing without explanation, and others appearing who don't belong. A secret organization has spent decades holding the seams together, but the stitches are coming undone. Somewhere in the shadows, a cult works to finish what the cracks started -to pry open the eye of a sleeping god force a truth among all of humanity, including those who never asked for it. You, however, don't know any of this yet. You're just a person, a regular human, living your life, trying to find your place in the world of Earth. But a letter is coming. And once you open it, the life you knew will be over. What comes next will take you across four worlds, through thousands of years of buried history, and into the heart of a question that no one has ever answered: when something that powerful wakes up, is it even possible to put it back to sleep? Pretty much everything you need to know will be in this google doc. There is a google form in here as well~ Log in to view Slots Available: 3 System Used: DND 5e 2014 Style: Voice on Discord, naturally using FoundryVTT Session Duration: 4-6 Hours is the current goal, BUT this can be changed up or down depending on party sentiment. TIME AVAILABILITY! Putting this at the top here since I can't choose multiple days AND times. There are three time slots available- Saturdays at 12 PM ET, Sunday at 12 PM, ET, or Sunday at 6 PM, ET! There is also a Google form at the bottom of the description here! Now Recruiting: E.C.L.I.P.S.E., a Chuunibyou Campaign You always knew you were destined for more. Everyone else just thought it was a phase~ Alright, everyone! I'm looking for players for a chuuni-centric campaign. You'll play as high schoolers, each a chuuni in their own glorious way. Maybe you're the heralded Bringer of Chaos, sent by the Dark God Tyranny. Maybe you're the reincarnation of the Angel of Sorrow. Maybe you are the Absence of Identity, Who Art We. Whatever your manifestation, you've spent years declaring it to anyone who would listen to your ramblings and monologues, though most people stopped listening a long time ago. This year, you're all joining your first official highs chool club: E.C.L.I.P.S.E. (otherwise known as the Extracurricular Club for Literature, Improv, Performance, Storytelling, and Expression). Finally, a place to be exactly who you are: reciting incantations, designing sigils, and arguing over whose dark lineage is more ancient. But deep down, every one of you knows none of it is real, no matter how badly you want it to be. That is, until you meet the club advisor, Mr. Stefan Enoch DuBose! The man is a bit quirky and odd, but seems to mean well. eads better as "None of that matters, however, when he closes the classroom door and does something impossible: real magic, performed right in front of you! The things in the shadows are real. Eldritch creatures are pressing into our world, and Mr. DuBose belongs to a secret organization of powerful entities sworn to stop them. He wants to recruit you. All of you. From that day on, you lead a double life. By day, you're a teenager dealing with homework, club meetings, and classmates (and parents) who still think you're weird. When a creature makes itself known, you transform into the powered self you always claimed to be. As it turns out, you were right all along, silly doubts be damned~ Players will be able to choose what D&D class and race they want to be, however, when they’re not transformed, they will be their normal human selves. We’ll also be using gestalt rules, where players will be raising the levels of two classes at the same time! One of those classes can be whatever you want, but the other will be the Legacy Warlock subclass from the Valda’s Spire of Secrets book! (You’ll find out why if you don’t already know~). We’ll be starting at level 1, and I plan to go up to probably around level 10, but it IS possible to go longer. This is meant to be a more fun campaign, but there is always the chance for serious topics and themes to come up! As such, players must be 18+! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe5qHMq3iVISouiVjNfACnHADYZd0RO_MCTeOGymfCk3nhGqQ/viewform?usp=header

New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Hello everyone, Alex here! I am a new GM on Start Playing, and I am looking for players for my mini campaign. I am hoping to become a full-time GM and figured this was the best way to start. A bit about me: I've been a GM for 7 years. I am an artist, illustrator, animator, voice actor, and writer. And I absolutely love roleplaying!  Game Premise: In the world of Anangnibi (pronounced Ah-nahng-nee-bee) there looms a threat to the local towns and villages outside of a major port city called Agonan Mizhakwad (pronounced Ah-goh-nahn Meez-hahk-wahd). Reports of attacks have become more frequent and many have claimed to see a flying creature up within the mountains. Maps indicate that there is an old fort that has been empty for quite some time in the area. The local authorities have put up a reward for heroes to go and investigate the area and find out what has been happening. You as the heroes will find yourselves walking into the mountains to find the old hold, and once you get there, you'll find out that you have gotten far more than you bargained for. Who, or what, awaits within the halls of old abandoned stone? And will you survive the secrets within? Or will you be claimed by death much the same as those of the poor raided villages? Death lurks here, cold and indifferent like the sitting stone. You will need your strength and wit if you want to survive. So be prepared to face the challenges and discover the mystery of what hides within the mountain stone. Game Price: $25 per person  Session count: 1-3 sessions Session length: 4-5 hours Player Character Level: 5 System: D&D 5E Sourcebooks accepted: PHB 14, XGE, TCE, VGM (Other sourcebooks are open to discussion) Homebrew and 3rd Party: Open to discussion More information and details about the game can be found here on the Start Playing post: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmt21mabu0037l404tjn7c32u?ref=cmrmikhi800frl704k6ca84nl  Content warning: While I am a newbie player friendly DM/GM, the game I am running is a DEADLY game with a DEADLY dungeon; your characters have a high chance of dying. Please keep that in mind for this game. If you are not okay with character death, this may not be the game for you.  If you have any additional questions, please feel free to message me, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  You can also get some more general information about me as a GM, as well as read previous player reviews through my Start Playing GM Profile here:  https://startplaying.games/gm/alexthedmpanda Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

A D&D 5e One-Shot About Making Bad Decisions in the Face of Certain Death The premise is simple: You are going to face something you cannot defeat. Not probably can’t defeat. Not might be able to defeat. You are completely and spectacularly outmatched. This one-shot is inspired by Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill! and is designed around the idea of throwing the party into an absolutely hopeless situation and seeing what happens. ⚔️ This is NOT a traditional heroic adventure. There is no expectation that the party will defeat the final threat. There may not even be a realistic way to survive. Instead, the goal is to create a fun, memorable, ridiculous, and occasionally heroic last stand where your decisions determine how your character faces the inevitable. Maybe you run. Maybe you fight. Maybe you come up with an absolutely insane plan. Maybe you spend your final moments arguing with the rest of the party about whose fault this was. Whatever happens, the goal is to have a great time. 🎲 About the DM I’ve been DMing for 2+ years and have experience running games through Discord and Owlbear. I’m also new-player friendly. You don’t need years of D&D experience to join. I’ll help explain rules and get you comfortable with the game as we go. 🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQ+ friendly The table is intended to be welcoming and respectful to everyone. Come ready to have fun, make questionable decisions, and embrace the chaos. ⚠️ Important Player Expectation Character death is not only possible, it is expected. This adventure is specifically built around an overwhelming threat and the possibility of certain death. Please don’t bring a character you’ve spent months developing if permanent character death would ruin the experience for you. Bring a character you’re excited to play, roll some dice, make some memories, and see how long you can keep the inevitable at bay.
