Runial (Homebrew)

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
The campaign takes place on a homebrew world called Runial. The civilizations that inhabit it are: Civils, the alliance of demi humans such as humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, orcs, goblins, and any other manner of humanoid beings. Ferals, which are more animal than humanoid, anthropomorphic creatures made up of any animal species you can imagine. Pseudofauna, which are a mix of demi human and some animal trait. Examples of this include holstaur, winged humans, merpeople and so on. They're distrusted by both Civil and Feral societies though are free to dwell within either albeit with some difficulties. Otherworlders, mysterious beings with special powers that are resistant to Runian natives. They can be any Runian race, although none of them arrive with memories of how they came to be. Civilization for the most part on Runial can be compared to the 1800s. The most advanced parts of the world have access to basic amenities such as rudimentary plumbing and electricity. Weaponry has advanced up to single action revolvers and lever action rifles. Runial in recent times has been plagued by a mysterious weather phenomenon known as the Aetherwind, a warm gentle breeze that rises from the ground, bringing with it motes of multicolored orbs of mana that float gently towards the sky. Any living thing caught in the Aetherwind is quickly and horribly mutated, rarely surviving the process. Alongside the appearance of the Aetherwind came the arrival of beings known as Otherworlders, people with special abilities that boast high resistance to attacks from Runian natives, making them difficult to combat without extreme measures. The Aetherwind began at the most northern point of Runial and over time has crept slowly to the south, pushing the Civil races down towards Feral territories. Ferals, in an attempt to retain their lands, have declared a defensive war on Civils to prevent their encroachment and Civils, desperate to escape the Aetherwind, grab what land they can to survive. The Aetherwind can also appear in random pockets anywhere on Runial, making nowhere truly safe. You are an adventurer that has woken up in an alien looking laboratory with no memories of who you once were or what has been done to you. After a narrow escape, you're now looking for answers alongside others that have also escaped the facility. Note: The game has themes of violence and is somewhat dark in nature without becoming too edgy. We are partially on the second act of the campaign and are looking for 1 additional player for a long term commitment. I prefer newer players and don't mind teaching them, but veterans are ok too. My campaign has some homebrew and mixed elements. I DO use generative AI in creation of character images and some tokens in Foundry. I do NOT use AI in any part of my worldbuilding, character creation, or story progression. The session will take place over Discord mostly through text and voice, but for some sequences such as combat Foundry will be used. If this info dump was enough to entice you, feel free to message me!

Grael Infinite Plaguelands - Ruins of Hope

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Its been 40 years since the incident in Ion occured which would lead to its tragic fate. A strange winged creature broke through the titanic structure of the dome of the city. Whatever did clearly leading to its irreparability. Within few years the city became a desolate ruin and its citizens were forced to flee underground. Eventually the project to rebuild Ion was tasked to the main overseer - Regina Vivingon Leigh. Yet the overworld of the Baronny isnt entirely happy with the notion of Ion coming back. The nearby circle city of Elrond is determined to prevent this task. You all were tasked with scavenging the ruins of Old Ion to find secrets in it, something that could help Elrond find where the people of Ion are hiding and what was so special about Ion. Whether youre doing it out of curiosity, to earn favour with the rulers of Elrond, or simply for the reward isnt important. The important thing is that you come prepared. Its said that there are strange threats lurking in the shadows of the ruin. The DM Greeting TTRPG community. My name is Shiv, a 22 year english teacher/amateur musical performer/ drag queen and I hail from Poland. I have been DM'ing for 5+ years, including a weekly monday campaign which has been going regularly since august last year and will go on for another year at least. My DM'ing history is exclusive to dnd which is a system I have a certain mastery in reshaping to my whims. As a DM I am very pro homebrew (as you will see later in the post) and I encourage player creativity, as long as it fits the setting we're in. I prioritise story and plot and thus always make sure that character backstories and themes are tied to at least one prominent plot point. First part of the password is: The. I pride myself on connecting things quite organically and can do so halfway through the story so dont be worried about your characters dieing :3 Another thing i pride myself on is handling tough themes in stories with respect they require and subjecting characters to hardship. In my campaigns, and especially this one, victories are hard earned, but when you do earn them, its a triumph. Despite the above statement I dont enjoy punishing my players I actively need to force myself to give adequate consequences, but trust and believe - If you act stupid, you will get an appropriate response. On the topic of consequences I do have a zero nonsense policy on problematic behaviour. If I notice an issue, I will speak with the player and let them adress their behaviour. We're here to work together to tell a story not against each other. All this makes me sound like a serious person but I am very much a jokester and always try to liven the mood when possible. I just take my responsibility as DM quite seriously. I make more than half the maps I use as well as all the enemies you fight, magic items you get and I am always willing to make a subclass for someone If asked nicely. The World In short Grael is a post-post-apocalyptic setting. The apocalyptic event happened way over 3000 years ago and the world learnt to live around it. The Second part of the password is: Ground Progress has been made both magically and technologically, including a broad train system and everyone's favourite airships. All this progress is mainly in opposition to the ever present threat of Decay - the magical force that aims to corrode and rot away everything, living and unliving. The pace of progress is combated by the pace of the Decay strengthening, seeming like a futile attempt to simply slow down the inevitable doom of all life. Those who can bear some Decay intensity will in open settlements like the broad circle cities and the water-fairing Mazzeras, but others hide in the steampunk Fortresses, colourful Carnival Courts or underground all the way to the underdark (more info in the Grael master doc below). Overall this world combines different visions of a post-apocalyptic world with different types of dystopian societies to create a truly one of a kind Existentialism nightmare. The Player The perfect player for this campaign is someone who is writing out their character on a psychological level. In this game choices matter and when I say they matter, They Matter, how you choose to approach the conflicts will dictate how the different microcosms will change. Thus how the character approaches choice-making, what choices they make, how do they argue them and how do they live with consequences is chief. This player must be consistent. The Third part of the password is: Awaits. The game doesnt stop when someone has to miss a session. The only way a campaign can live is through players who make this a priority of some sorts to them, not show up when they feel like it. I am looking for storytellers, people who want to achieve something with tje characters they write. Intentionality is key and so is creating a proper theme. I dont need 20+ pages of backstory, half is enough often times. Some of the most interesting characters I had in my campaigns had bulletpoint backstories. You cant be rules rigid. This is s roleplay first campaign. You say what you want to do and my job is to tell you if it is possible and if its see through the consequences accordingly. Sometimes I might need to be corrected on how certain rules work, but oftentimes when I dont do something rules as written, there is a reason. This also extends to the fact I am veru homebrew forward and have some homebrew rules of my own. Finally, I am running this campaign for my friend, after last time we did it in this setting fell apart. Me and my friend tend to be obnoxious together, but we can buckle down and have serious moments and Rp. I expect the same from you all, dear applicants. The Game Still awake? I can put on some subway surfers in the background if it is boring. We will be playing 5e 2014 dnd however we will be utilising the Weapon Mastery feature from 2024 as well as using 2024 variants of spells for healing (mandatory) and other spells (optional). The game takes place on Tuesdays 8pm to 11 pm CEST. The fourth part of the password is: You. The day and time is non-negotiable. There might be cases where we might want to run longer just to finish something so I would ask you be open to that. Voice and all communication will be done through the dedicated discord server. The game itself will be held in foundry (if i figure out how to use it) Next tuesday I plan there to be a session 0 but it might be postponed to the next week If I need more time vetting applicants. The actual game will begin 2 weeks after session 0, to ensure proper time for character creation. The game will start at level 3, but I tend to have a quick pace with level ups. Applying Since I already have 1 player, I will be looking for 3-4 players to fill up the roster. I will be collecting application till friday evening when I will close the form so probably around 10 pm. People I select from the form will move on to the voice interview portion where after all calls are made I shall inform all voice-vetted applicants of their verdicts. I will not be contacting people not accepted on the application form stage. To apply you must fill-out the form, I will not be reading any private reddit messages from anyone. All answers that you need to find out are already in the post. DnD 5e

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
May only have one spot left... Free to Play. 2014/2024 mixed rules. I'm still relatively new to DMing so some decisions are made on the fly in regards to rules but I try to stick with general DnD rules. Intimate scenes fade to black if any and no forced relationships. No murder hobos (I will kick you out). No min maxers/power gamers.  Homebrew setting and universe. Equal percentage roleplay, exploration, combat. I encourage roleplay but it's up to players to want to do more or less. It's mostly open world but there is still some storylines that can be followed or explored. Campaign started with 4 players. We got to session 10 last month and level 3 before one person had a family medical situation that has him out for the time being (may return) and another left for their own reasons.  Looking for 2-3 players. The original schedule was every other week on Saturdays starting at 7pm MST (AZ). And usually going for 3 hours maximum. I'm open to weekly but need to check with the remaining two players. The campaign is on hold until I find 2-3 more players. New players will start at level 3. The OG players started the campaign coming from other universes and mysteriously teleported to this one. New players will have the choice to be from this world or be teleported in like the others. Open for discussion. Currently have a Human Paladin, a Tiefling Warlock, and (if he returns) a Tiefling Ranger. There is a Table Convention document (basically rules and agreements) that I'd like to go over before you join.

Critter Killers LLC — Modern Fantasy Monster Hunt

Critter Killers LLC — Modern Fantasy Monster Hunting Welcome to Westfall, where magic is real, monsters are dangerous, and somebody has to deal with them. You’ve just been hired by Critter Killers LLC, a professional monster-control company operating out of Mill Haven. Your job is simple: investigate reports, figure out what’s causing the problem, and take care of it. What starts as ordinary pest control may eventually lead to something much stranger. Expect combat, investigation, exploration, roleplay, mystery, and plenty of workplace humor. I'm a new DM, so I'm still learning and improving as we go. I plan to begin as a oneshot I'm looking for players interested in a long-term campaign, character development, and building a story together. New players are welcome! Hello my name is Valentine, I'm 16. I'd like other teen players who are interested in modern Japanese culture. We will play as homeless teenagers in a fantasy version of modern Tokyo. It is inspired off of Japanese pop culture, not Japanese history or at least not a lot. The settings are based off of real Japanese locations in Tokyo. Here is the google form and the google slides for the campaign!!! We will be playing on a discord group chat, it's mostly text based but if you all want to be on call I'll join on mute! I write better when I'm texting and not talking.

The Game Master charges a fee to run the game.
I'm running this game on StartPlaying: Here's the Link: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmqh35gz8000pla04qk1wixvp Eldritch Horror & Faction Intrigue The city of Drakkehneim lies in ruins. In this deadly metropolis, you’ll find riches, power, and glory… or possibly death. That happens a lot, too. TYPE Campaign SYSTEM Dungeons & Dragons 5e LEVELS 1–13 EXPERIENCE Open to all AGE 18+ When the meteor fell, everything changed. The city of Drakkenheim, capital of the great nation of Westemar, was shattered by the impact. Yet that was just the beginning. The uncontrolled magic that seeped from this fallen stone generates twisted horrors and spreads chaos in the fallen city. Can this plague of mutations and monsters be contained? Could the power of the meteor be turned to benevolent purposes? Can anyone bring together the fiercely divided factions of Drakkenheim? It will take some pretty bold (or perhaps insane) adventurers to find out. Dungeons of Drakkenheim is an adventure that lives at the intersection between H.P. Lovecraft and George R. R. Martin. Equal parts eldritch horror and political intrigue, this setting offers a unique take on D&D lore where magic is met with suspicion, the gods are distant and silent, and your choices have long-term consequences. It’s perfect for players who like both their combat and moral choices to be challenging. If you’re looking for a long-form campaign in which your characters will grow from humble novices into mighty champions, pursue unique personal quests, and face dangers the likes of which you’ve never seen, then the city of Drakkenheim is waiting for you. WHAT TO EXPECT • An Adventure from Levels 1 to 13+: What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger on this sweeping, long-form quest. • Setting-Specific Classes, Subclasses, and Feats: Each major class in 5e gets at least one new subclass you can choose. Or you can try out the Apothecary, an INT-based occultist who exploits forbidden knowledge. • Compelling Story-First Play: Step into an epic tale of mystery, drama, and escalating stakes. As you explore the haunted city, dark secrets and startling revelations tell a vast and majestic story. • Personal Quests: Your PC’s background and history lead to a unique personal mission that will be instrumental in the overarching plot. • Vast Sandbox: Explore Drakkenheim the way you want to. Your actions drive the unfolding plot in this non-linear adventure. • A Living World: Experience a coherent, brilliantly conceived setting with deep lore. You’ll meet distinctive NPCs with their own personalities, motives, and stories that bring this world to life. • Unique Adversaries: The setting pits you against unknown horrors twisted by magical contamination… and your GM loves to homebrew monsters, too! • Political Intrigue: Five factions compete for dominance in the city, each with their own agenda. You’ll need to decide who you trust and who you oppose in the ever-shifting political landscape. • Many Surprises: Even if you’re familiar with the campaign, expect new twists and custom homebrew content that will make this journey through Drakkenheim fresh and exciting.

The Ruination of a Kingdom

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Welcome to Wradia, a realm once ruled by the wise King Affel but now plunged into chaos and despair following his untimely death. The land is fractured, its people scattered and beset by danger on all sides. Noble houses vie for power in a brutal civil war, brigands and slavers prey on the weak. Amidst this turmoil, whispers of monsters and other horrors returning plunge what little hope is left.  Wradia is a land of contrasting beauty and horror, where the remnants of a once-thriving kingdom struggle beneath the yoke of war. The landscape is marked by once-majestic castles, now besieged by armies clad in the colors of their lords. Villages swollen with refugees or eerily deserted. The common folk, whom the nobles vow to protect, often find themselves abandoned as the squabble for power intensifies.  This campaign is grimdark, focusing heavily on themes of survival and the moral ambiguities of war. Choices will often not be between good and evil, but between the lesser of two evils, and every victory is tinged with loss. The harsh reality of Wradia will test not just the combat prowess of your characters but their will to endure and the depth of their resolve.

Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
We still have an opening. Every other Sunday starting on the 6-9pm Pacific time. We are just starting Eve of Ruin over Discord and Fantasy Grounds. We use 2014 5e rules with Xanathar's and Tasha's guides. I do add in a bit of homebrew to expand and balance the best I can. Our group is 35+ Adults. Welcoming and friendly. We enjoy the combat bits with a bit of problem solving aspects. We have a Ranger, Warlock, and Fighter right now. Trying to recruit a couple more. I've been DM'n for about 2 years now. I have been interested most of my life and play in another group as a player. I'm open to ideas and try and say 'yes' or 'We can try' rather then shutting down ideas as long as they are reasonable. I am more a rules lawyer then Role-playing but I'm trying to be better at the talking bits.

LGBTQ+ friendly

Hi my name is Nora I am a transgender DM this is my first time being a DM other then for my small group of friends I make homebrew campains as the world and item in it are made for the perish of the campaign  Campaign info [Saturday 8 PM PDT] The Shattered Crown — Low-Magic D&D Campaign Game: D&D 5e Platform: Shard Tabletop Day: Saturday Time: 8:00 PM PDT (California time) Frequency: Weekly Campaign: The Shattered Crown Style: Low-Magic Fantasy • Exploration • Roleplay • Combat • Mystery 🌎 The Campaign Welcome to Eldoria, a world where magic is incredibly rare. Less than 20% of the population can use magic, and powerful spellcasters are even rarer. Most people can live their entire lives without witnessing powerful magic. The only peoples in the world are: - Humans - Elves - Dwarves - Beastfolk There are no other playable or intelligent fantasy races. The campaign begins in the small town of Greyhaven, where a mysterious black star appears in the night sky. The next morning, people begin disappearing. Ancient ruins begin awakening. And something sealed away thousands of years ago is beginning to return. 🎲 Rules This campaign will use strict D&D 5e rules. - Core D&D rules are followed as written unless a specific campaign rule is stated. - Character abilities, spells, actions, conditions, combat, and leveling follow the D&D rules. - Homebrew requires DM approval. - No exploiting rules loopholes to intentionally break encounters. - DM rulings during an active situation will keep the game moving; rules discussions can happen afterward. - Players are responsible for knowing their character's abilities. - The low-magic setting changes the world and availability of magic, not the core D&D mechanics. ✨ Low-Magic World Magic is uncommon in Eldoria. Most NPCs cannot cast spells. Powerful spellcasters are extremely rare. Magic items are also uncommon and are intended to feel meaningful when discovered. A powerful spellcaster appearing in a town should feel like an important event rather than something that happens every day. 🗺️ Important Locations Greyhaven A small farming and trading town where the campaign begins. Stonewatch A heavily fortified dwarven settlement built around an ancient fortress. Lunaris An old elven settlement hidden deep within a massive forest. Fangridge A Beastfolk settlement where several different Beastfolk clans live together. Aurelia A large human city and major center of trade, politics, and military power. 🚶 Travel Travel is an important part of the campaign. Journeys between towns won't simply be skipped every time. Players may encounter: - Merchants - Travelers - Wildlife - Bandits - Ruins - Lost adventurers - Dangerous creatures - Magical phenomena - Important NPCs - Events connected to the main story The choices the party makes while traveling can affect what happens later. ⚔️ What to Expect Roleplay • Combat • Exploration • Mystery • Dungeon Crawling • Story The campaign is intended to be a long-running adventure where the world develops alongside the characters. Your characters aren't simply moving from quest to quest—the towns, NPCs, factions, and locations can remember what you do. 👥 Looking For Players who: - Enjoy roleplaying - Like exploration and discovering lore - Enjoy D&D combat - Are willing to work as a party - Can attend consistently - Are respectful toward the other players - Are willing to follow the campaign's rules New players are welcome! 📜 Character Creation Available peoples: Human • Elf • Dwarf • Beastfolk Character creation will follow the agreed D&D 5e rules. Any homebrew or unusual character options must be approved by the DM before play. 🔎 Interested? Send me: - Name / preferred nickname - Age (18+) - D&D experience - Character idea - What you enjoy most: Roleplay / Combat / Exploration / Story - Confirmation that Saturday at 8 PM PDT works for you 🌑 The Shattered Crown awaits. Something ancient has awakened. And the people of Eldoria have no idea what is coming.

The Black Pig Company

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
I am looking for one or two players to join three others for a long-term D&D 5e (2014) campaign set in the Forgotten Realms. The game takes place on Cromwyn, an island that once lay among the Moonshaes. During the Spellplague, Cromwyn disappeared completely.  Recently, it has returned.  However, it did not return to the Moonshaes. Rather, the island reappeared far to the south, isolated off the Sword Coast and radically altered. Its geography had changed, native ecosystems had been warped, and the barriers between the Material Plane and other Planes had become dangerously unstable.  Cromwyn is now colliqually divided into two parts. The Shatter is the much larger main island. It is poorly mapped, extremely dangerous and heavily affected by planar instability. The Lords’ Alliance controls the colonial project and operates Cromwyn as an effectively permanent penal colony. Prisoners are transported there from across Alliance territories. Some are violent criminals. Some are thieves, smugglers, deserters or political prisoners. Some were convicted fairly. Others were not. Once someone has been transported to Cromwyn, leaving is effectively impossible. A prisoner can earn money, property, influence, privileges and a considerable degree of freedom within the colony, but Cromwyn itself remains their prison. The death rate is enormous. Expeditions, monsters, accidents, violence, disease and planar exposure kill people constantly, and new prisoner transports continually replace them. The Shatter The Shatter is both the reason Cromwyn is so dangerous and the reason anybody cares about it. Planar interference has altered its flora, fauna, geography and people. Strange minerals and magical substances have appeared throughout the island. Creatures from other planes sometimes become stranded there. Native communities that survived Cromwyn’s disappearance have themselves been changed by generations of exposure. The Shatter is not empty wilderness. It contains settlements, ruins, altered cultures, dangerous ecosystems, monsters and environments the colony only partially understands. It also suffers from planar storms, which can temporarily change terrain, weather, magic and living things. More valuable are planar breaches. These are temporary openings or overlaps between Cromwyn and another plane. A breach may last for hours or days before collapsing. Expeditions enter them to recover rare minerals, plants, magical resources, monster components, artefacts and other materials that cannot normally be found on the Material Plane. The rewards can be enormous. So can the body count. Planar Load Extended exposure to unstable parts of the Shatter causes Planar Load. Load represents accumulated magical and environmental contamination. The longer an expedition remains exposed, particularly during storms or inside breaches, the greater the risk of exhaustion, magical effects, corruption, mutation and other consequences. This means expeditions have a practical limit. Sometimes the question is not whether the party can reach something. It is whether they can reach it, get what they came for and still make it home in recognisable condition. The Campaign Hook Your character has been convicted of a crime and transported to Cromwyn. Whether they actually deserved it is entirely up to you. You could be a murderer, thief, smuggler, revolutionary, deserter, political prisoner, someone convicted of a morally defensible crime, somebody framed, or anything else that reasonably fits the premise. On arrival in Headisport, your penal contract is purchased by a private expedition outfit called the Black Pig Company. That is where the campaign begins. What the Game Will Be Like This is intended to be a sandbox campaign, not a linear adventure path. There will be contracts, rumours, expeditions, factions and opportunities, but the players will decide what interests them and what direction the group takes. Typical work might include: recovering lost expeditions or prisoners; monster hunts and bounties; rare-resource extraction; planar-breach expeditions; escorting researchers or prospectors; diplomatic missions with Shatter communities; investigating anomalies; establishing or repairing magical wards; exploring altered regions; recovering lost cargo, equipment or settlements. The campaign uses a hex-based regional map, but ordinary travel will generally be handled point-to-point rather than crawling exhaustively through every individual hex. Travel will still matter. The Shatter is unstable, and routes, weather, monsters and planar events can change. Planar breaches will work differently. These will often become tighter, dangerous, time-sensitive hexcrawls where navigation, exploration, exposure and deciding when to leave are much more important. The game will include a mixture of: roleplay, exploration, combat, investigation, faction interaction, survival elements and character development. The setting is dark fantasy and can deal with grim material, but I am not interested in running relentless misery. There will also be black comedy, absurdity and the usual strange situations that emerge when several adults spend an evening pretending to be fantasy criminals. Player agency is important to me. I run the world, NPCs, enemies and consequences. You decide what your character actually does. There will not normally be one hidden “correct” solution that I expect you to discover. Rules and Technology System: D&D 5e, using the 2014 rules Character Sheets: D&D Beyond Virtual Tabletop: Foundry VTT Voice and campaign communication: Discord Webcams: Not required Characters will be created and maintained through D&D Beyond. I own a fair amount of 2014 material already. If you own an official 5e source that I do not have, I am happy for material from it to be used as long as it is official material and works cleanly through D&D Beyond. I am not currently looking to use unofficial/homebrew classes or character options. About Me I’m 39, based in Ireland, and have been playing and running tabletop RPGs for a long time. I’m primarily looking for players in their late 20s or older. You do not need to be an experienced D&D player. Beginners are completely welcome. Knowing every rule is much less important to me than being reliable, reasonably communicative, able to work with the rest of the group and actually interested in what the other players are doing.

5E Phyrexian Invasion @ Strixhaven

Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Adult
The table is for players who are 18 or over.
This one's for the Magic the Gathering fans! The Phyrexian Invasion is a myth told at Strixhaven. World-enders conquering plane after plane? Please. Strixhaven is protected by Archaics, the Founder Dragons, and Jadzi the Oracle would absolutely foresee this coming. It's just Warforged from Ebberon causing havoc. You have bigger things to worry about. Like what you're going to present for your Final Project. It's Year 2 at Strixhaven. You've chosen your College and you're looking forward to a fun education. The Prismari Orchestra and Dance clubs will be hosting the Formal at the end of the year and your Final project needs to be started soon if you have any chance at passing this year. You've been recruited to Auxillary for your exemplary showing at Mage Tower last year so that's more work piled on the semester! This new Guest Lecturer, Professor Beleren, seems like an interesting teacher so maybe you'll take some extra lessons after classes? Year 2 at Strixhaven promises to be just as hectic, just as weird, and just as fun as Year 1. The Phyrexian Invasion can stay a scary story for the new batch of First Years. This years biggest threat is passing Advanced Foundations of Magic - Proprioception and Incantations in Stressful Situations. ---------- We are an older group in our 30s/40s looking for someone to join our newest campaign. 3M/1F in the group. Would love to add another female to balance the player dynamic. Expected to run from level 4 to 14-17 over the course of a year or so. I host at my house, using a VTT for maps and 3D minis for creatures/characters We rotate covering meal orders Seeking 1-2 players, especially those more familiar with MTG.

Very modified Homebrew DND, levels 2-10

Description Hello, I’m Richard, 33, from the UK, and have DM’d for nearly 6 years and am looking for 1 more player to join a new group I’ve made. This is a homebrew world. About the game world: Aurelis is a homebrew world I made by smashing Forgotten Realms, World of Warcraft, and my own ideas into a blender, with fair amounts of stealing from Dragon Age, Fate/Stay Night, and Northern Lights. Broadly, it is an age-of-exploration fantasy. Plate armour, horses, ships with cannons, pistols and muskets, and the rise of organised religion conflicting with traditional pantheon beliefs. The Netherese Empire fell, and since then, while large empires formed to the south and west, a large region has struggled with monsters and instability and remains fragmented. Level 5 characters are considered serious figures; above level 7 is extremely rare. Map for reference: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IEkkwUWubui_cf-p9OIK8Uqg9cGPnnv_/view?usp=sharing Entry image It has 17 species split into 30 different groups – I’ve worked hard to try and ensure no-one are humans in fur-suits, and instead have distinct mechanical, narrative, and biological differences. All elves are addicted to magic and must sate this addiction in different ways; Kanami only feel emotion through their Netherese masks; Riksha have primal urges they desperately try to keep under control, for example. Here is a snapshot of them – currently, I’ve drawn 20 of the images here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IIWYu61Pxj8HW_Kylr3QQJqy-q2HRUyi/view?usp=sharing  Entry image Story Protected from the turbulent waters of the Malestrom, the sea of Rashemi should provide warm, safe harbour to those around it. However, the most powerful – The Bowline and Rashemi – have great interest in ensuring it remains unstable. Rashemi is sometimes seen as the centre of Aurelis, an untamed land free from the influence of empires squabbling over land and the laws they impose. And it used this freedom to take it from others, for here was an immense basin to which much of the slave trade poured in. Many would sell across these shores, where they were either bought by Razachai, or sent on to join the main arteries of it, where they would be auctioned and sent off, often southward into the ever-hungry Summeril. In the last couple of decades, two individuals made remarkable progress in sealing these arteries; now, slavery is officially outlawed and is increasingly seen as a horror and abomination of Summeril. But those who profited from it haven’t gone away, just driven more underground, awaiting the moment these two figures fall. Piracy here is rampant, often venturing out to prey on the ships of the coast, but happily striking the vessels that do not pay within the sea itself. It is centred on the city of The Bowline, and 3 pirate lords have carved it up between themselves. Each balances the others, unable to stand against the other 2, but it would take little to tip the balance of power. The Floran – a small savage race from the Feywild – are proliferating, and have managed to go from the coast to the islands and take them over. A figure, known only as Mistreaver, has become a dangerous force in the region – mist covers an area, and once it recedes, everyone within has disappeared. And ships from across the sea – from the Summeril Empire in the south, and the Kavraaki Kaorazate in the west – have begun prowling here. No one knows why, but it certainly won’t be in their interests two let these two empires in. The adventure starts at level 2, and swiftly leads to the party acquiring a ship. Act 1 would focus more on Mistreaver and building up your ship – getting important NPCs for it to function – while going on adventures. Changes I’ve made I find DND a wonderful system with a huge number of flaws due to WotC’s lack of attention, and I’ve spent the last few years trying to fix them. I've run and tested most of these rules already; all I've done is streamline them from my previous game: Different Skills. There are 20 different skills, deleting rarely used ones and adding new ones – so for example, Performance is out, Medicine is a tool, religion and history merged into Lore, and I've added skills such as Mastermind and Discipline. Skills have listed examples, DCs, and expected outcomes for things they can do, to try and remove the Mother May I part of non-casters – you can play as normal, but you have those to hold my feet to the fire on what your skill lets you do. Skills are much more impactful. Tools, which I call professions, are much more impactful too, especially during travel and downtime (but still ignorable). New Charisma Skills. All the charisma skills are out, replaced with Charm, Inspire, Pressure, Manipulate, Reason, and Network. Everything is a form of persuasion in conversation – HOW you do it should be more important. Your charming rogue, manipulating spymaster, eloquent senator, and commanding captain should all feel different in how they persuade you. Social Pillar has Actual Rules. I have a social system because I wanted that side to be interesting. It was designed so that players could just roleplay while I have a system to track rolls – my previous players’ review of it was glowing and asked for it to return. All of the above is a long way of saying “I like Skill Challenges and I use that system for everything outside of combat” New (optional) Classes. I have WoW-inspired custom classes, which my players playtested and enjoyed (the Agent [WoW's rogue] had 3 years of weekly playtesting). You’re welcome to disregard and use base 2024 classes, except for cleric and sorcerer, which don’t jive in my world enough. Martial classes in particular will feel outshined by mine, though. There are custom spells, lots more choices, 2 masteries per weapon, and for martials, 5th-level-spell equivalent techniques at level 9. I’ve tried to ensure every common trope, from blood magic to the inquisitor, has a fulfilling home – and have made new subclasses to support specific fantasies. Regardless of official or not, no multiclassing. Piety. There is a piety system, but going from -10 to +10, because +50 seems like a lot of tracking. Each tier (+2, +4, +8) has its own choice of 4 rewards. Believing in a god is non-negotiable, but you can have a patron be the thing tracked instead, even for non-warlocks. This world divides species between Kyth and Kythless, those with gods and those without, as their dividers of sapience. The kythless are considered monsters. No resurrection, no revivify – people die when they are killed. There are critical successes and failures, and I’ve split exhaustion into exhaustion and stress, which go up to 10. I have a simplified inventory system using bulk, so you have to choose what you’re taking, taking primary inspiration from Darkest Dungeon. My drive file of everything is here, almost all of which is now on Foundry (just missing subclasses, which I’m porting over as people choose them): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1d1iVn2Hwn_syjgGfxaMenw0VYRUo9pL8?usp=sharing Entry image Expected Gameplay Loop We’ll be playing using a variation of gritty realism – you short rest each day while at sea or travelling; you can long rest at safe harbours; and if you have more than 2 stress or exhaustion, you’ll need to spend a week recovering in downtime. Expect the following gameplay loop, which is inspired by Darkest Dungeon: Step 1: The Chosen Task – deciding what you will do next. Step 2: preparation. The party prepares – getting books or costumes, buying rations and antitoxins, getting a map, etc. Step 3: Travel – I use hexgrid-like travel, where each person chooses a role for the day, and either nothing happens; a hazard happens (skill check or a penalty), or a possible good thing appears (skill check). Step 4: The dungeon – this might be an actual dungeon, or a heist, or a socialite party, etc. Step 5: The escape. How much loot are you willing to try and carry, versus rations, potions etc. Step 6: Recover. Selling items, resting, planning next adventure. What I want from players I want players who want and engage in a serious world, making serious decisions that will change the world around them. People who want to see chaos or have the dice make their decisions for them are valid, but not the group I want to play with. Players who want difficult fights. I am very good at monster and boss design, which take cues from WoW bosses. Expect telegraphed attacks, movement, soft enrages, and using the environment. In my 6 years, I have not lost a single player character, but they are often difficult and require them to think and engage with it. I subscribe to the Brennan Lee Mulligan’s approach to difficulty, which is: I want your characters to succeed, but I’ll be damned if you don’t earn it. I am much less interested in fights that aren’t a challenge and don’t tie to the story (while travelling, I’ve made them skill checks so we aren’t bogged down) Players who care – or their characters care – about civilians dying. Avoiding this should be significant motivation, and when in combat, avoiding it should be a significant mechanic to consider. People who turn up week after week on time. Communication! Almost all problems can be resolved through good communication. What players will get from me: Someone who will do everything to help tie your character into the world, and will collaborate with you to do so. I’m willing to rejig my world to make your idea work – want a Kanami character from a noble family, but none exist in this region? I’ll change or add a city to make it happen. Got a subclass idea that doesn’t fit anything? I’ll make a new subclass. I’ve already been adding places onto the map from player’s feedback. You will almost certainly get your character drawn eventually down the line if you want an anime-style avatar. I am very good at making encounters and boss fights; good at threading storylines together, and according to my previous players, at designing things. Mechanically, you should have a good time at least! I will ensure, with your support, that your character and NPCs you make are tied to the world and story, even if not immediately apparent. Player information Our fourth dropped out without a word just before session zero, so we have completed that. We have a Wizard, a barbarian, and a Hunter (ranger that shoots magic arrows). I’m happy to balance around whatever the group has (my last group was 4 melee DPS and a warlock, not a healing spell between them, and I didn’t lose anyone), but it’ll probably better for everyone if your character has a different spotlight. Our session zero notes are here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1chIxlUleH6XubikrSiAgE05TOLqm5uNirxQMCBVlgi4/edit?usp=sharing  Campaign information: The campaign will be from level 2-10. I am comically bad at judging timespans, but it would be three acts, and I’d expect around a year long. We’ll be playing 19:00-23:30 GMT every Saturday – however, if it needs to be adjusted a little bit earlier or later, we can all accommodate that, as long as the session ends at the same time or earlier. We will be playing online on Foundry and have a Discord server, as that has automated a lot of my nonsense. Foundry continues to fight me, so things might turn up in a session for me to troubleshoot by next session – please bear with me. 18+ please. I have no expectation of experience level – just willingness to learn (most of the drive isn’t required reading either!). I was reminding my last players they have 2 attacks 4 years into that campaign, so I am patient and helpful if you’re making the attempt! I think the most sessions anyone in this group has played is 6, so if you’re inexperienced, you’re in good company! If you're interested, please message me who you are; why you want to join / what interested you about the campaign; any questions you have; anything in the session zero notes you would like to add (e.g. I wouldn’t want X in the game; I’d really like to have Y encounter to play through, Z is a veil/red line for me, etc). I hope you have a good day! I know I've frontloaded a lot here, but I'd rather everyone have a good idea of what to expect.

Where Land Breaks

Welcome! This is my homebrew campaign using the ryoko's guide setting!  Some key notes, to save us all some time: This campaign has limited races to choose from, being only humans and the ones from ryoko's guide. We will be exploring many difficult topics over the course of this campaign, but I do not want real world issues at my table. The hook of this campaign is that the player has been offered a gift, a deep and personal desire by a spirit of the kaiju, for unknown reasons. These cases aren't unheard of and are actually growing in number.  The player has the choice to say yes or no, other than that I would love to discuss further on my discord @kaybold_

Woes of Westgate

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
WOES OF WESTGATE Synopsis The campaign takes place in Westgate, Faerun's most sordid city. Under the youngest appointed Croamarkh to date, it had recently known peace. The city split into three factions: The Serpent's Crest, the Night Masks, and the religious sector, Gods' Hill - they all lived in a precarious balance of harmony. At least, the closest thing to harmony they had seen. But this peace halted when the Culling began. The Culling refers to a collection of recent bizarre phenomena:  First came the Withering Hand, a cult risen out of nowhere, choking the city with death in its wake to resurrect their dead god. Then, the Shattering Sky. Researchers across the Sword Coast have speculated it's been a thing for centuries... though now a rift the size of a copper piece has made itself apparent in the atmosphere. Swarms of aberrant creatures have emerged since, and everyday citizens now fear to be out at night. With these occurences came an arch-necromancer said to hail from Waterdeep, now working with the Croamarkh and claiming to have a cure. Many are too fearful to question it, but a handful of missing person posters have been printed shortly after his arrival. This calls for a group of heroes to investigate the belly of the beast. The clock is ticking, and so begins a race to unravel this nefarious plot before the world is torn apart.  Time 5 PM - 9 PM System Dungeons and Dragons 5e Campaign Level lvl 3 - lvl 12 Hello! I'm Kota, and I'm a newbie DM looking for a few additional players for a campaign I wish to try running again! We will be starting completely from the beginning, with our next session being a brief session 0 and session 1. Currently, the group consists of 3 of my friends who all retain a fair amount of knowledge of TTRPGs, but we are completely open to new players joining us as well! This campaign is for adults only, since we are all adults and it handles more mature topics such as fantasy violence and body horror. For anyone curious, currently the party consists of a bard and a rogue, with the third person still deciding. The game is completely free to join, no fees or anything required.  I will likely be recording all of the sessions with Craig, and storing them on a google drive so that you may go back and review sessions in case you missed some notes. The sessions won't be posted anywhere else. Campaign Playstyle I prioritize roleplay and character choices affecting the narrative over all else, balanced with combat sprinkled throughout important narrative moments. I tend to be super chill as a DM, and I'm a heavy user of the Rule of Cool. If the solution is creative or interesting, I will likely let you do it!  That's all I can think of for now... if you're looking for a super chill and open-minded long-term group, feel free to join us! Just contact me here first, and if you're a good fit, I'll add you on Discord so we can discuss it further there! Thanks for reading!

The Yindran Academy

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Horror
The game leans into fear, tension and dark themes.
I'm looking for players 25+, who can attend the game at 6PM CEST Saturdays weekly, can communicate and are mature enough to play in a darker game. I shall respond withn 10 days of today (before 23.09) You have been chosen to attend a prestigious monster hunter academy in the Misty Plains. In this campaign you will battle across different test and tournaments, manage the socio-political environment of the academy, as well as do your best to achieve academic success. This game will host 3-5 players starting level one. We will be using a lot of homebrew rules as well as DnD 5e 2014 community update called 5.19 edition, which brings a lot of refreshment to normal 5e mechanics, while including a lot of new options. House Rules: Setting: A Belle Époque-inspired world recovering from ages of destruction and suffering. Gods have mostly abandoned the world, magic is scarce, and ancient artifacts are highly sought after. The Land of Sain is harsh but hopeful, with people banding together against ancient threats. Expect occasional futuristic or silly elements alongside the darker themes. Levels & Multiclassing: Characters can freely advance to level 8. Further advancement requires rituals or other means of overcoming their mortal limits. Normal multiclassing is impossible because conflicting energies would drive the character insane. Certain rituals can allow class levels to be exchanged for another class at a cost. Ability Scores: At character creation, roll 3d6 for each ability until the total is at least 60. ASIs are replaced by feats. Characters can also gain +1 to any ability score when they accomplish notable goals or feats, at the GM's discretion. Legendary Creatures: Legendary Resistances and Actions are replaced by Legendary Break Points. These regenerate each round and can be spent on defensive abilities, counterspell, dispel magic, removing conditions, legendary actions, or a powerful Break Ability. Legendary creatures use fixed initiative and have two designated windows for legendary abilities, making their threats more predictable. Spellbook Machinations: Some spells belong to restricted groups and require an appropriate reason for a character to learn them. Certain spells can also corrupt their users, potentially changing alignment or severing divine connections. Dynamic Attunement: Attunement slots equal your proficiency bonus. Uncommon items use 1 slot, while rare and very rare items use 2, with higher tiers costing more. Items belonging to a set or that specifically choose their wielder do not consume attunement slots. Death Rules: When reduced to 0 HP, a character chooses one death move: - Blaze of Glory: Take one final action that automatically critically succeeds (with GM approval), then die. - Avoid Death: Fall unconscious and survive, but suffer consequences. Afterward, roll a d20; if the result is equal to or below your level, gain a permanent Scar. Six Scars kill you. Resurrection can remove some Scars. - Risk it All: Roll a d20. 1–10 means death; 11–19 means you remain in combat with HP equal to your level + proficiency bonus; 20 restores half your HP and grants one use of your class's Signature Ability.nscious and survive, but suffer consequences. Afterward, roll a d20; if the result is equal to or below your level, gain a permanent Scar. Six Scars kill you. Resurrection can remove some Scars.

Riftborn - a Multiverse spanning lvl3-20 campaign

Paid game
The Game Master charges a fee to run the game.
Female DM looking for 1 more player who loves to roleplay, delve deep into lore and utilise rule of cool to join this epic multiverse spanning adventure.  This campaign will take you across multiple worlds - expect cyberpunk, steampunk, dragons, fairies and everything in between. You should expect meaningful roleplay, dangerous worlds and factions with their own motivations, morally grey areas and choices with consequences. The Multiverse awaits. Welcome to Quant, a sprawling, multicultural megatropolis built upon the skeletal remains of a forgotten deity. Existing at the exact crossroads of the multiverse, Quant is a free city that connects every plane of existence. For two centuries, the planar portals have been perfectly stable. But crossing them is a deadly gamble. For those not blessed with your gift, stepping into the chaotic energy of the Rift between space and time can mean horrific mutilation, massive time-jumps or - if you're lucky - death. Fortunately, you are Riftborn, blessed with the ability to traverse the planes - highly sought after by the rich and powerful. And on this most glorious of days, you have returned to Quant, for business, pleasure or maybe a bit of both. Either way, you're stuck here for the next few days as the city celebrates the founding of Quant and, as tradition dictates, the portals have closed for the duration. However, 200 years of planar stability is a fragile thing and there are many forces at play as the festival is in full swing. Your special talents are about to make you the most valuable assets in the multiverse. 🎲 Start at Level 3 → Rise to 20 🔥 Any class, any species (homebrew will be considered) 🧠 Deep roleplay, gritty choices, personal stakes 📜 Backstory integration + learn the worlds as you go 🗺️ Explore a multitude of planes & even create your own $20/session  Sundays 7:30pm BST - 10:30pm BST Will you manipulate the worlds to your own will or be lost forever to the Rift? Check out the game listing here!

Mortum

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Horror
The game leans into fear, tension and dark themes.
The Pitch When you were young you grew up with stories of the gods moon, sun and star. They were there for you, took care of you, and inspired you. The Sun, bright and ever-present, would light the path and grow the world. The Star would guide the people and inspire those who looked to her for such. The moon was stalwart in his defence of the mortals below him, willing to be the villain in the dark if that meant that his mortals would be safe.  The three Gods often competed in followers and worshipers, all in good fun. Seeing mortals as their children, each striving to be their favorite parent in a way. The yearly festivals are all based on this friendly competition, but those who are very devoted followers claim that this balance between the three keeps the world in tune.  This was life for the people of Polarius.  Until two years ago when a new king was crowned. King Tonto worshiped a god known only as Mukoro, said to be a previously unknown God of prosperity and ease. Mukoro skyrocketed in popularity over the last two years and people have noticed changes in the world linked to the domains of the Three. Mukoro reassures its followers that it controls those domains now, but some of the population are uneasy. This tension cannot last forever.  Players are encouraged to build characters with thoughtful interactions with the gods, approach the world with curiosity vs coldness, and remember that sometimes your adversaries are not always evil.  Tone & Feel Mysterious, Uncanny, Whimsy, Fear, Cosmic, Victorian   Themes Cosmic Romance, Toxic love, Overconsumption, overreliance, necessary evil, the horror of irrelevance  Touchstones Local 58, Gemini Home Entertainment, King in Yellow, House of Leaves, Vita Carnes, Twilight Zone, Miss Peregrine's home for Peculiar Children Content warnings  Gaslighting, Abusive relationships, political differences, truths being shattered general violence

The Legends of Arithea

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Hello and welcome to the world of Arithea! Arithea is a world where gods walk among the people, magic is everywhere, and the stars are alive with knowledge of the past. The year is 3999 AR, just before a celebration known as the thousand year festival. It should be a time for revelry, but something dark is brewing. There’s whispers about a dangerous magic that turns people mad and tensions growing in the south of the realm. Not that those whispers concern you, of course. After all, you’ve found yourself in the kingdom of Eridia, a place known for its peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. Regardless of how or why you came here, you’re here now, and you have received a mysterious letter signed by the head of the Queen’s guard requesting your help. This is where our story begins. ——————————————————— I’m a 21 year old experienced player (but new dm) that has created an entirely home brew world to run this game in. My big inspirations are Percy Jackson, Studio Ghibli, Genshin Impact, and the podcast Malevolent, though that one doesn’t translate as well as the others since my world isn’t horror. I’m a big fan of whimsy and the rule of cool, so if you’ve got a wacky character idea, this might just be the place for you! I really want to go into depth about your backstory and make you care about not only your character, but the group as a whole. This will be a very rp focused game, with very little but meaningful combat. I plan for it to be mostly serious in terms of tone, but I am also not going to shy away from the occasional ridiculous side quest or silly bit. I will warn you now that I can’t really do voices and accents for the life of me, but I’m going to try my best. I don’t know exactly when this game will start because it will depend on how quickly I find players, but I’m hoping for late August or September. I plan for this to be a very long term game, so please only apply if you’re going to be in it for the long haul. We will be starting with every other week, but we may switch to every week once I get a hang of prepping for/running sessions. ——————————————————— Ground rules: 18+ only. Please be safe on the internet you guys. No AI in any form. No bigotry of any kind. We will be using d&d 5e 2014 rules. I’m also open to homebrew stuff, but you have to ask me first. New players are 100% welcome! You don’t need to have any experience at all with anything d&d, all I ask is that you show up and try your best. I’m totally willing to help you figure it out! I am a new DM. This is the first game I am running ever. There will inevitably be hiccups and mistakes but such is life. If you’re looking for a super polished game, this probably isn’t the one for you, but I have hope that we’ll still have fun, everyone starts somewhere and I’m excited to start here! If everything above sounds good to you, then please fill out the form I made and I will message you with more information if I think you’d be a good fit! Maine (Biddeford, Saco, OOB) older gaming group

Two questions for my older fellow Saco, Biddeford, OOB & Dayton Maine role-playing peeps... Anyone have an open seat at their in-person D&D (or other RPG) table? And if not... Anyone interested in starting a new in-person local game group with me? If the answer to either above is "Yes", message me to see if our two gaming interests and personalities are on the same page. Even if they aren't, I'd dig hearing your thoughts and the chance to chat with a fellow nerdy local. If we pass each others Internet Stranger vibe check, it would be cool to meet up in person to see if our interests dovetail and see where it goes. I'm a mid-50's player looking to connect with some like minded easy going folks while I get back into the hobby. I'll probably gel best with folks from late 30's and up, but I'm open to hearing from younger folks too. Last played 5e, but open to any edition. I suppose I'd even consider a non-D&D RPG if it sounded fun enough. I can host after I get to know everyone. I'm mostly interested in the storytelling aspects of the game vs. solely murder hobo-ing and min/max-ing, but dig playing with others with different interests. I have a fairly flexible schedule for in-person games (even some free time during the weekdays if any of you work from home). I'm not super interested in online play at this point as I'm trying to play as locally as possible to make it easy to do regularly and I've always thought it would be fun to do a longer campaign. Happy to do one-shots too. Ideally, Not interested in a paid game, but  I'd be happy to contribute to the regular costs of running the game, needed supplies, game materials for the DM and group food etc. If you're somewhat local (within 15 mins of Saco), message me and we'll see where it goes. Ideally, I'm looking to play either in my or someone elses home once we all get to know each other vs. a game store or other place in order to keep the costs down and because I find game stores a little too busy to have a relaxing night. No problems doing the first few sessions in a public place however and I know of a couple coffee shops and breweries that have spaces which would be fun  for us to run the first few sessions in. If this post is still up, feel free to get in touch, even if has been a while since it went live as I'll probably still be interested in hearing from you even if I put this up a year ago. Cheers and good rolls!

Hunter: The Interning

Horror
The game leans into fear, tension and dark themes.
Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Monster-X To most of the world this strange company is known for peddling its so called 'advanced technology' to governments, arms dealers, and medical providers. It is also a multination corporation devoted to studying and dealing with the occult, from which it gains its technology. Due to the clandestine nature of the supernatural, most people who interact with them, and even their customer facing staff think it is just some strange lifestyle brand, and that most of its products are little more that snake oil for the superstitious. However this is far from the truth, for monster are real, and a threat. Monster-X is a company dead set on making as much profit off of them as possible, sending their techs, often times poorly trained or even unaware of the true nature of what they are facing, to secure samples of whatever they can, and then the scientists attempt to reverse engineer them into products, such as an anti-aging cream made from vampires, or a steroid derived from the adrenal glands of a raging garou. You are recently 'hired' interns. Maybe you were ex-military or law enforcement and had one too many encounters with the supernatural. Maybe you're a crackpot conspiracy theorist, or perhaps a college student desperate for credits. Regardless your old life is over, and you awoke some time previously in an underground barracks in Monster-X's Research lab in Togo, where you were given some modicum of training to prepare. But now is your first day. Welcome aboard. This is a modern 5e (2014) D&D game set in the world of darkness and heavily flavored by Hunter: The reckoning. In it you play as newly minted techs for the international corporation Monster-X, widely considered by the monster hunting world the 'pizza delivery' of monster hunters. You are given experimental technology and sent off to scrap whatever profit you can from things beyond mortal knowledge, fighting against the things that go bump in the night. Naturally, since world of darkness is earth, the base race for everyone is human. However, you can 'volunteer' (its not your character's choice, you as the player choose) to receive gene therapy to alter your genetic code (effectively, the other races) and change your abilities and appearance. You may also elect (again player choice, not character) to receive even FURTHER augmentation (grim hallow transformations, but only werewolf, vampire, or eldritch abomination), but at that point you are considered the property of the company, a bomb in planted in your brain, and you aren't really considered a 'person' anymore. A note all classes have proficiency with firearms, however unless you have 'martial weapon proficiency' or play an artificer, you can only use pistols.

The Benefactor

Paid game
The Game Master charges a fee to run the game.
🔥 THE BENEFACTOR | D&D 5e (2014 + 2024 Rules Mix) | Tuesdays 12pm UK | £16/session via StartPlaying 🔥  The Benefactor is open to everyone — whether you’re rolling your very first character or you’ve been adventuring for years. If you love the chaotic found-family energy of The Legend of Vox Machina, the strange beauty of the Feywild, and a creeping horror twist set within the Forgotten Realms… this story may be calling your name. This campaign leans heavily into immersion. I’m actively working on my voice acting, so expect distinct NPCs, layered personalities, and moments that feel truly alive at the table. I run a relaxed, welcoming game — but one where you should never feel too comfortable. I love keeping players on their toes in ways that feel earned and story-driven. It might start small. A letter from a mysterious gentleman, insisting it’s in your “best interest” to meet at a tavern. Simple enough. And then suddenly… it isn’t. Before long, strangers become something closer. Fire forges bonds. And being taken to another realm doesn’t seem nearly as terrifying when you’re standing beside the family you never expected to find. Why players choose this table: Committed, invested players (paid games = everyone shows up and gives it their all) Strong voice acting & immersive storytelling that brings NPCs and the world to life Meaningful found-family RP where your choices and relationships genuinely shape the long-term story A perfect balance of heartfelt chaos, mystery, and creeping dread Long-term players receive FREE custom character art as a thank-you for sticking with the journey . Logistics Schedule: Every Tuesday at 12:00 PM UK time Players: 3 seats available Price: £16 per session (securely handled through StartPlaying) Rules: Mix of 2014 and 2024 D&D 5e (fully compatible — best of both worlds) Platform: Online (Roll20 + voice) If you’re ready for mystery, meaningful chaos, and bonds forged in fire (with a side of Feywild strangeness), I’ll see you at the tavern. Limited spots — message me for the direct StartPlaying listing link Where everyone currently is stuck in the faewilds trapped in a deadly circus at session 4  Link to StartPlaying

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.

The table is for players who are 18 or over.
Hey everyone! I run a D&D community called Session Zero. We’ve had incredible growth over the last few days with so many amazing new faces joining us, and we are looking to expand our tables! Our main goal is simple: create a relaxed, welcoming space where people from all over can get together and just enjoy playing D&D. What to expect: Players Welcome: We have several campaigns spinning up that are actively looking for players. We have games spanning multiple timezones, so if you want to play, there is a seat waiting for you! No more scrolling through Forums for a table!  Calling EU DMs (and beyond!): While we are thrilled with our active player base, we are on the hunt for EU based DMs to help run some games. We have a few EU campaigns starting up, but getting more rolling is our top priority! (And of course, we are still welcoming DMs from outside the EU as well!) DM Perks: I have a large DnDBeyond book selection I share with DMs running games in here. Fully free! The Vibe: Whether you're a longstanding DM looking to find a new group of players to take on a magical adventure, or perhaps wanting to get into the DM chair for the first time but need some support, you will be more than welcome. Our player base is a mix from never playing a game before to years of experience, so come grab a stool in our laid-back 18+ community. It's not just 5e! We have a game looking for players that's Pokemon, fallout, daggerfall etc!  Please reach out with any questions or if you wish to join!

Adult
The table is for players who are 18 or over.
Greetings and salutations to everyone! I am Augury, a DM and most importantly a nerd of many years. It happens so that my Tuesday game is currently looking to fill a slot for its 6th player. We play every Tuesday at 9:00 PM! The campaign module acts as the overarching narrative of the campaign however I have done some changes and added a bit of my own world on top of the campaign setting, so for those familiar with Dragonlance as a setting somethings might be familiar while others will be new! The short synopsis of the campaign is that you all are individuals brought together by various circumstances before getting swept up in the war that is looming over Ansalon. Someone has rallied an army in Takhisis name, and it is up to you to gather allies, resources and figure out who is leading this army and to put a stop to it. This game features mature themes as we are all adults, thus it is tagged 18+, I would primarily be looking for a player with some experience already playing 5e. If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to reach out to me by leaving a little synopsis of yourself down below and I'll try to reach out to see if you'd be a good fit!

Gold Takers

Hello! I’m looking for three people to join me and two friends for my dnd campaign. It’d be every other Sunday starting at 2 pm pst and ending at 5:30 pm. I’m a dm with four years of experience, but that was only for DMing for people I already knew pretty well, so this would be my first dive into DMing for new people. We’ll be using Foundry, Discord, and D&D Beyond. We'll be using a mix of 2014 and 2024 5e. Fruma is a detailed high fantasy world with a rich history. It has three continents, and the main and largest one where most action is seen is Nerva, home to the Nerva Empire. The Empires continent is split into four directional regions: North, East, South, and West. The North is a dangerous region, still recovering from an incident that wiped out the majority of it’s population and the land is still teeming with mutated and corrupted monsters. The East is the hub of industry, where most products that the citizens of the empire use are made, but in turn it’s also the only region left in the Empire that still participates in beastfolk slavery. The Southern region while primarily desert is the richest region, the city of Midas being the gold production capital of the world, and Vinsgold being where a lot of that gold is gambled away. And the west is the agricultural center, producing the majority of the Empire's food stores. The year is 1028 aef. 20 years after the five heroes put a stop to the northern incident that claimed hundreds of millions of lives. The Empire is just starting to see another spike of growth in its economy as technological innovations have been popping up left and right in the past two decades. From the train to Peracross radios to the huge fleet of steamboats that have been built by Hammer and Hammer co. Now, where do you fall into all of this? You were in need of some money; maybe you were a beggar trying to start a new life, a rich noble's kid who wanted a bigger allowance. Either way, an advertisement for a loan company, Sloans Loans, caught your eye. And after talking with someone with the company, you signed the contract and got the money you so desperately wanted or needed, you were sure you’d be able to pay it back on time. They came for you in the night. Money taken, a debt unpaid, and now it’s time to give what’s owed. It hasn’t been long since you met them, the people who promised you money and delivered, spoke honeyed words about how this was your shot, about how you’d succeed. But despite previous reassurances and assumptions, the date to pay the debt has come faster than expected. They came for you in the night, attacking you, stripping you of all you have, and dragging you from your bed or cot. Pulled from the safety of sleep and through the dirt with a bag over your head and a few new bruises before being tossed in the back of a metal carriage, where you were soon quickly joined by other individuals like you, gagged, bound, and blind. After a few hours, the carriage comes to a halt, the door opens, and you’re pulled into your new life, or your new hell. Thank you if you read all that! If it wasn’t clear, the start will be pretty rough: losing all your money and items, and being given clothes that look like they were made from rags and dumped somewhere random in the Empire. Linked right below is the detail wiki for my world, which also has a page on my house rules. Along with the Google Form you’ll use to send in an application! I’m looking to have session 0 this Sunday, the 30th. And the first session on September 13. (You don't need a character ready by session 0, that session will be for setting expectations, boundaries, getting character concepts rolling, and getting to know each other) The wiki for those who want to read about the world> https://fruma.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page The application form> https://forms.gle/gNX26PMdT72r5HZV7

Into the Deep

[Los Angeles][D&D 5E 2014][Saturday Afternoon/Evening][LGBTQ+ Friendly] Looking for one or two players for a monthly game! Hello! I am looking for one or two people interested in joining a 5E 2014 game starting soon. We are a group of three queer people (two trans women, one nonbinary) looking for anyone interested! This game will be held at Geeky Teas and Games in Los Angeles, on a monthly basis with sessions running about four hours. The intent is for players to begin at level 3, and progress to level 15 over a few years. The setting is a high-fantasy world in the age of sail, although the first steam-engines are starting to make their prevalence known. After the defeat of the Dark Thread and their piratical allies, the world has entered an era of unprecedented prosperity and peace. The burgeoning young nation of Altinia has recruited a small band of adventurers to map and explore the mysterious underworld discovered in the wake of the Dark Thread. You are one of those adventurers. For whatever reason, you have decided to answer the call, and were given a position on the forward team, about to descend into the bowels of the world to discover what secrets lie in waiting… The payoff potentially being great acclaim and vast wealth, if the theories are correct about the mineral resources of the Deep. If you’re interested or have any further questions, shoot me a DM!

Adventurers are mysteriously drawn to the realm of Barovia which is surrounded by deadly mist and ruled by the vampire wizard Strahd von Zarovich. This gothic horror adventure takes the players on a course through Barovia that culminates with a vampire hunt inside Castle Ravenloft. Using a deck of tarokka cards, the Dungeon Master can randomize parts of the adventure such as the identity of a powerful ally, the placement of important magic items across Barovia, and Strahd's location within Castle Ravenloft. This adventure module is designed to take four to six player characters from 1st level to 10th level. [test post - will be removed soon]

Hello everyone! I'm a DM with about 6 years of experience behind the screen (and occasionally as a player). I am currently looking for up to six players to join my table, whether you have plenty of previous experience or are a complete beginner to the hobby. Ever since the Dragon Cult’s terrifying attacks, the city of Volkenheim has been in complete lockdown. Nightly curfews, travel passes, heavily restricted spellcasting, the whole package. The High Magistry claims it’s all for our protection. And on paper? They’re doing a remarkable job. Ever since the wizards enforced order and became the city’s de facto sentinels, the chaos has vanished. The streets are quiet. Safer than they’ve been in decades. But absolute security comes at a price. When every step is governed by someone else’s rules, peace starts to feel a lot like a cage. Still, most citizens accept it. They call it a justified trade for safety. I might have believed that, too... if I hadn't accidentally stumbled onto the truth. The Dragon Cult isn't pulling the strings. The High Magistry orchestrated the attacks themselves. What to Expect: Heavy emphasis on roleplay, investigation, tactical urban combat, stealth operations, and morally grey choices.

[Please note the game is being played on Tuesdays at 6pm-10pm BST] Greetings, I am searching for one player to join an ongoing 5e game that heavily focuses around Steinhardt's guide to the eldritch hunt. The first thing to preface is the timing, the day cannot be changed as all players currently have commitments on all other days of the week, the starting hour could however be moved by an hour if necessary. The next thing anyone interested in should be made aware of is how "existing" the group is. By mid September we will have been playing for a year, though as people have become unavailable we have had one person join us in January and he has been with us longer than he hasn't so I would hope the same could be the case for you. A few more pieces of housekeeping would be mentioning the current group size. We have been running a group of 5 players for the majority of the campaign with my general ethos being wanting to run unless we have 2 people missing, recently one of the players has had to move to bi weekly and another has left due to simply not being able to make time for the game anymore. That has left us with a part size of 3-4. Hence is the reason for this post, as I would like someone to make take that number back to a party size of 4-5. With that out of the way, what game would you actually be joining? This campaign uses a lot of material provided by Steinhardt's guide to the eldritch hunt a 5e supplement by Monkey Dm, along with pieces of the additional story Heresy of Steel, all smoothed over with a narrative created by myself and the players. You may take the role of a hunter, a tool against the tide of beasts that plague the once fair city of Luyarnha, one experimented on by the enigmatic Obitus Scholare to be a perfect tool, or perhaps just someone looking to save themselves and those they care about. Maybe you are one of the many magically inclined individuals, one who has their upmost faith in the radiant one, or perhaps you attempt to understand the great ones who's presence lingers through every shadow of the city, all while trying to not go mad yourself. You could even be an unfortunate traveller, one who broke the lockdown on the city and has now been dragged far from home. Steinhardt's wears it's Bloodborne inspiration on it's sleeve so you can expect a similar similar oppressive atmospheres, deadly beasts and accursed nightmares. Additionally you can expect a setting with the beginnings of modern technology reminiscent of the industrial revolution. You can expect trains, guns and the earliest of cameras, though most people still travel via horses. If you are at all interested please contact me here or using Discord to discuss further details.

Aletheora

Aletheora — Create a person. See who they become. Looking for five adult players for an online oneshot (with the option to continue if the group clicks) in my homebrew world, Aletheora. This is a 2014 5e dark fantasy oneshot set in a strange, half-forgotten place — atmospheric, high-stakes, and focused on discovery rather than power fantasy. We’ll begin with a guided Session 0 and create your character together. The approach is simple: you create someone who doesn’t exist yet, then we play to find out who they are through the choices they make. You don’t need acting experience or to be an expert roleplayer—just an interest in treating the character as a person rather than a set of numbers on a sheet. I’m looking for players who enjoy thoughtful roleplaying and are open to a game with meaningful consequences and real player agency. If that sounds interesting, send me: •  How long you’ve played D&D or other TTRPGs •  What you enjoy most about them •  A fictional character you’ve genuinely cared about, and why •  A sentence or two about the kind of character you’ve always wanted to play Happy to answer any questions.

Game Time September 12th (Or at least around then, possibly earlier) Time can be heavily adjusted, but 2PM CST would be preferred What style of game does the group play? I plan on running Curse of Strahd 5e. I have been DMing as my groups forever DM for the last 4 months, and I'd like to run Strahd. It is a Gothic Horror campaign, and is months long, so be prepared for that commitment please! How does your group play? Discord Voice (In Campaign Server) using modded Owlbear VVT (Includes dynamic lighting, scenes, ect) as well as tokens. Strahd is very exploration and roleplay-based, though it is not without combat. I'd say a 30 (Exploration) 50 (Roleplay) 20 (Combat) for the campaign. Number of available spaces. 3-4 Additional Information (Optional) Still a fairly new DM so be patient! I heavily focus on player choice/narrative; if you have a loose end in your backstory, I'll try to see if I can tie it. I also have a personal set of rules and I would like a group that can show up on time weekly. Please do not waste my time, as I am currently getting an education and I can't easily spare it. I'll likely choose the best candidates from this post and play through a pre-written One-shot so I can get a sense of everyone's playstyle. I also ask that you value the story and fun of the game over the mechanics and power playing, as I have dealt with that previously and it is not fun. Newer players are welcome, though I do ask that you have at least 5 DND sessions under your belt. Please fill out the application!

Ruins of a village

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Age: minimum 16+ (mature content, gore and death for example), ideally 18+ Time and date: Saturday 22.8, session duration roughly 3-4h, depending on how far we get maybe a follow up session on saturday the 5.9 Requirement: Discord, Decent Mic character creation: Lv 7-8 characters with some buffs to drive home that giant feeling. Most normal races and all classes allowed. The flavour will be changed to giant. I can help if you need help. focus: exploration/combat Base rules: 5e ruleset (rules as interpreted, rule of cool, rules of logic), no powerbuilds, no language spells or spells that allow you to talk to animals Short info: Your characters will be a hunting party from a village that got completely destroyed upon your return. In this world the only sentient species your characters know of at this point are giants which live in a tundra on a low tech standard (You can use whatever normal race and class you feel fits for your stats, homebrew you need to run by me for balance). Your goal will be to hunt down whoever or whatever destroyed your village and to avenge your families (and maybe rescue anyone still alive). Intro: It was a dry summer in the high Chirachat, a region dominated by multiple tribes of giants all mostly united under one council of the eldest. That however is not of much interest to you when you come back from a long and tedious hunting trip out into the plains around your village. Normally you would have heard the laughter of children or seen someone bring out some booze hoping for the first pick on the meat you hunted. This time you were only greeted by silence interrupted only by a charred wooden beam falling down onto the ground. You look around the now desolate place, devastated. You had it all but now you are standing in front of nothing. You all spread out, your large spears and bows in hand. Soon you would all find the traces of something big, something with large teeth. In your minds was only one goal left: To hunt down whoever did this. How to join: Simply join here or add me on discord. Please write a short intro. The minimum intro should include any limits (like gore) you might have to determine if the game I planned will work for you.

Adventures on Sword Coast

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
What Kind of Game This Is The world exists independently; it does not revolve around the characters. It is populated by powerful rulers, ancient monsters, nameless peasants, gods, heroes, and thousands of people who have never even heard of your characters. Some of them are stronger than you. Some are your equals. Some could crush you in a heartbeat. Being an adventurer guarantees no victory; it merely offers a chance to change the world. If characters act wisely—using reconnaissance, diplomacy, cunning, and common sense—they can defeat enemies far stronger than themselves. If they charge in headlong, the world will show them no mercy. Approach to Characters Characters are not merely a collection of stats and abilities. They are individuals who had a life before the campaign began and—potentially—will have one after it ends. They have families, homes, friends, enemies, dreams, and fears. I want characters who truly exist within the world, not ones who simply materialize out of thin air in a tavern with "adventurer" stamped on their foreheads. I am interested in heroes who have something to lose. Approach to Rules Rules are not meant to replace common sense. Rules exist to resolve uncertainty. Therefore, I treat the system as a tool, not as scripture. If you love creating "broken" builds, arguing over every paragraph of the rulebook, or using the rules as a weapon against the GM, we will struggle to play together. If you care more about the world, the story, and the consequences of your decisions than about exploiting mechanics, we will likely get along well. Character Death Death is always a possibility. Characters can die because the world is dangerous. If a character dies, it will be the result of their own decisions, the circumstances, or risks they consciously chose to take. Trust I trust the players. I expect the same in return. If a character runs into trouble, it doesn't mean the GM has decided to punish them. If a character gets lucky, it doesn't mean the GM has decided to go easy on them. Characters take action, and the world reacts to those actions. The game cannot function without trust. Intra-Group Conflict Conflict between characters is acceptable. Conflict between players is not. Characters may argue, hate one another, and hold opposing goals or worldviews. However, players must remember that they have gathered for a shared game. If a conflict begins to spoil the fun for other participants, it ceases to be an in-game conflict and becomes a problem. Metagaming I expect minimal metagaming in this game. This means distinguishing between what *you* know and what your *character* knows. A character lives within the world and acts based on what they have seen, heard, and experienced. A player might know more—but the character does not. I ask that you maintain a clear boundary between the two. What This Game Is About This is a sandbox-style game about adventurers on the Sword Coast. Specific events and storylines are unfolding in the world, but it is up to you to decide which ones to engage with and how. Characters venture into the wild borderlands to earn some money. They level up and can become local rulers if they choose. General gameplay: Characters have no money - They go on an adventure. - They earn money and return to town to take a downtime break and spend the money on magical items, training, real estate, and more. - Characters have no money. Playable Characters At the start, there are strict restrictions. Only Humans or Halflings, only Warriors or Rogues. Later, you can learn other classes from instructors and replace your current one. For example, a 3rd-level Rogue could study to become a Bard and become a 3rd-level Bard. Another option for expanding your abilities and changing races is Death. If your character dies, you can choose a character from the races you've encountered and have studied sufficiently. If you've spent time in a dwarven stronghold, it's reasonable that one of the dwarves will decide to travel with you, replacing a fallen comrade. The available classes also expand. If you're playing a Warrior and have spent enough time in a Druid Grove, your next character can be a Druid.

Hello everyone! My name is Mira, I'm a 20 year old GM from Italy, and recently, I made a few boss statblocks inspired by Granblue Fantasy: Relink. To take them for a spin and get some feedback, I plan on running those fights (with some dungeon crawling in one case) as oneshots. They will all run at the time of 19:00/7pm GMT+2, lasting four to five hours at the absolute most, on different days. This is the signup for the oneshot against Seofon and Tweyen, Twin Eternities,  which will be run on Thursday, August 20th. Character level will be 15, with each character having one Rare and two Uncommon or lower Magic Items. I hope to see you there!

This is a long-term, weekly DND campaign; 5:30pm-8:30pm UTC+2 weekly on Mondays 2014 rules Level 1 to Level 7 $15 per weekly session SETTING In a world where automatons are part and parcel of daily life, and war between kingdoms is tearing apart the social fabric for ordinary folk, a group of heroes is needed to protect the people from the schemes of those who seek to profit from the instability. Unbeknownst to the powers that be, the small ducal city of Mulon, is at the epicentre of a silent, violent struggle, the outcome of which, will change the face of the kingdom forever. So, if you’re ready to experience the darker aspects of high fantasy, play with some amazing D&D players, and make choices with real consequences for your heroes, we would love to have you at the table :)

Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
I am a new DM starting out with my first campaign. I value all three pillars of D&D (Combat, Rollplay, and Exploration), where each part complements the others, with emphasis on grounded sincerity during roleplay. But I am a fan of the rule of cool. Additionally, I'm running some homebrew rules for my campaign that are a bit in-depth. Please check them out before deciding to join:  https://www.worldanvil.com/w/jordaheim-rpathos/a/rpathos-d26d-changes-article    Story: Mistra's Isle. The crossroad of the four shores. A former pirate haven turned thriving trade port and elven colony, extending the reach of an old alliance across the known world. Situated along the Gilded Road, it is both a reprieve for weary travelers and a volatile den for opportunists. Every race, every creed, and every coin eventually passes through its harbours. Every four years, the island hosts the Grand Mistra Tournament. Warriors from across the world answer the call — soldiers, sellswords, wanderers, and the quietly desperate — all flocking to compete for fame, fortune, and glory. You are one of them. Whatever your reason for being here, success hinges on more than steel and might. The arena is only part of it. Teams fight on a schedule, but the bold can challenge anyone, anytime — provided they have the nerve and the plan to come out the victor. Between fights, the city is yours. Scout your competition, court your allies, spend your winnings well, and rest when you can. The tournament rewards the prepared as much as the strong. So. Will you test your mettle in the arena? Immerse yourself in the power struggles simmering beneath the city's polished surface? Or is there some grander ambition driving you here that has nothing to do with the prize?

Shadows Under the Web

Welcome to Shadows Under the Web, my first campaign that is almost FULLY HOMEBREW!!! 🙌 This campaign is about the party being a group of mystery hunters investigating towns and villages that's inhabitants have been mysteriously  going missing as of late. The party's overall goal is to find the main cause of the disappearances and help the towns and villages get back to normal life :) Hey! I'm currently working on a horror/mystery themed dungeons and dragons campaign. I need 3-5 players to play it with me! I'll only be able to play on weekends and preferably around 6pm cst. Don't be afraid to make a voice for your character and please please please for the love of EVERYTHING, don't be afraid to talk to each other, in-character, for extended periods of time. As the dm, I already talk a lot... I'd love for players to interact with each other :] I will be closing this post after the first 5 submissions. (ps: let me know if there are any type of scenes that make you uncomfortable or anything. [ex: suicide, politics, ect...] I like writing good stories but i don't like writing ones that make my readers uncomfy!)

Playtest
The game is still being tested, and your feedback is part of the point.
This is the signup for the oneshot against Beelzebub, the Supreme King, which will be run on Monday, August 17th. Character level will be 15, with each character having one Rare and two Uncommon or lower Magic Items. Whereas the other two oneshots will be pure combat, this will have some dungeon crawling too, so take that into account! I hope to see you there!

SCP - Hardcore - Containment Breach

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Playtest
The game is still being tested, and your feedback is part of the point.
[5e 2014] Online SCP - Hardcore -Containment Breach ime: Thursday - 5 pm PTD (My time) CAMPAIGN OVERVIEW: SITE-01 BREACH FACILITY BRIEFING — RESTRICTED ACCESS (CLEARANCE LEVEL 0+) > LOCATION: Site-01 "The Citadel" (Subterranean Super-Site) CURRENT STATUS: CRITICAL SYSTEM FAILURE / TOTAL CONTAINMENT BREACH The Setup For decades, the Foundation kept anomalies separated across the globe to prevent catastrophic chain reactions. Site-01 changed everything. Built miles beneath the earth in an isolated sector, it was engineered as the ultimate containment facility—a massive, automated mega-complex designed to house every documented anomaly, object, and entity in existence under one roof. It was supposed to be impossible to break. An hour ago, the impossible happened. A site-wide cascading power failure knocked out the main grid, neutralized the Scranton Reality Anchors, and blew the blast doors across every sector. From Safe-class holding blocks to the deepest Keter vaults, thousands of entities are now roaming the pitch-black, corrupted corridors. The Situation Whether you are a D-Class subject looking for a chance at freedom, an MTF Operative separated from your squad in the initial drop, or a Foundation Researcher armed with high-level access and classified knowledge, you cannot survive this alone. The Citadel's automated safety systems have initiated a Phase-4 Site Purge. A countdown timer has started: when it hits zero, the facility's nuclear warheads will detonate to prevent a world-ending event. Your Directives Survive and Escape: Traverse damaged containment sectors, malfunctioning security gates, and warped spatial zones to reach the surface before the nuclear countdown expires. Contain the Threat: The outside world has no defense against what is crawling out of Site-01. As you fight your way to the surface, you must use your environment, paratechnology, and tactical wits to lock down, re-contain, or terminate as many escaping entities as you can. "We secure. We contain. We protect. Today... we survive." /////////////////////////// Core Hardcore Mechanics Roll for Stats Individually: Ability scores are generated by rolling in order (e.g., Strength through Charisma) with no rearranging. You play the hand you are dealt. Randomized Race: Your race is determined by a random roll. Raw Hit Points: You always roll for your hit points when leveling up Tactical Fumbles: Rolling a Natural 1 on an attack or check results in a tactical consequence (e.g., your weapon jams, you drop an item, or you provoke an opportunity attack), rather than just a simple miss. Lingering Injuries: Dropping to 0 hit points results in a roll on the Lingering Injuries table, causing long-term physical trauma that requires specialized medical care or paratechnology to heal. Site-01 Survival Mechanics Safe Haven Resting: The facility is actively hostile. You can only take a Short Rest in cleared rooms. A Long Rest can only be taken inside designated, sealed "Safe Havens" (such as intact monitoring bunkers or active Scranton Reality Anchor zones). Stress & Sanity: Encountering Keter-class entities or witnessing horrific events adds a point of Stress. Reaching 5 Stress points forces a roll on the Paranoia/Panic Table, resulting in temporary behavioral consequences. System Shock: Anomalous damage is devastating. If you take damage from a single attack equal to or greater than half your maximum hit points, you must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or fall Prone and become Stunned until the end of your next turn. (Side not only classes available are hombrew ones I made for this world) I am fixing ans making updates to the world and mechanics so expect changes as we go.

Iron Kettle Presents: Ember | Open-World Cinematic

Paid game
The Game Master charges a fee to run the game.
Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
The Adventure: The world of Ember is dying. The gods are silent, the sun is dimming, and the encroaching Ash threatens to consume everything. You are the last line of defense in a shattered land. Whether you are a metallic-skinned Cor'ak fighting for your forge or a fiery Fej seeking lost lore, your party must carve a path through a massive, hostile open world. Reclaim lost relics, fight terrifying abominations, and perhaps, reignite the world. The Pitch: Explore an uncompromised dark fantasy sandbox where your choices entirely dictate the fate of the realm. High production value soundscapes, rich atmospheric horror, and intense, strategic combat are guaranteed. We use Foundry VTT and D&D Beyond integration so you can focus entirely on the cinematic story. https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmrkx5rm80004l104kdj7hv5g?ref=cmpe26gha0035ji04azjpab18

The Crooked Moon | Folk Horror Campaign

Paid game
The Game Master charges a fee to run the game.
Horror
The game leans into fear, tension and dark themes.
The Adventure: Welcome to Druskenvald, a realm choked by eternal autumn and ruled by forgotten superstitions. The harvest is failing, the woods are hungry, and villagers are whispering to things that hide in the pumpkin patches. You are outsiders drawn into a twisted folklore nightmare. To survive, you must navigate a land where fairy tales are lethal, hags strike bargains for memories, and the very shadows want to devour you. The Pitch: The Crooked Moon is a campaign built around sinister witchcraft, ancient curses, and deep psychological horror. If you want a campaign that feels like The Witch or Sleepy Hollow, where the environment itself is your enemy, look no further. Bring a character who can survive the dark. https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmqzxic7m000nl7041x5xckid?ref=cmpe26gha0035ji04azjpab18

Dungeons of Drakkenheim Eldritch Ruin Exploration

Paid game
The Game Master charges a fee to run the game.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
The Adventure: Fifteen years ago, a meteor shower of eldritch Delirium crystals annihilated the capital city of Drakkenheim. Today, it is a treacherous, monster-infested wasteland shrouded in a toxic haze. Five rival factions violently vie for control of the ruins and the immense power of the crystals. You are scavengers, drawn to the ruins for wealth, glory, or desperate necessity. Will you align with a faction, strike out on your own, or be mutated by the corruption? The Pitch: This is a dark, tactical, urban exploration campaign. Inventory matters, contamination is lethal, and faction politics are razor-sharp. Survival requires careful planning, ruthless execution, and cinematic teamwork. https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmr5tue0l00onie042eesanw6?ref=cmpe26gha0035ji04azjpab18

Chronicles of the Midnight Realm

Paid game
The Game Master charges a fee to run the game.
Adult
The table is for players who are 18 or over.
The Adventure: Something foul is sweeping across the land, leaving a trail of absolute depravity and terror in its wake. In this campaign, your team of investigators, mercenaries, and survivalists will travel town by town, stepping into completely unique, localized horror scenarios. One week you might be solving a grotesque local curse, and the next you'll be fighting to survive a localized slasher nightmare. Every town has a dark secret, an active threat, and a completely unique flavor of horror to unravel. Can you solve the mysteries and cleanse the region, or will the Midnight Realm swallow you whole? The Pitch: Built from the twisted scenarios of Libris Nocturnum, this is a gritty, episodic grimdark campaign. Expect heavy investigation, thick atmosphere, and unforgiving horror where your wits are just as important as your weapon. The Rule of Cool is always active—bring your best roleplay and sharpest tactics to survive the road. https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmr5toq5n00n9js04nt2lzrj9?ref=cmpe26gha0035ji04azjpab18

Vecna - Eve of Ruin

Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
The campaign is the Vecna: Eve of Ruin module, in the middle. I allow a mix of 2014 and 2024 rules. The player characters are currently level 15. The campaign is combat heavy and doesn't have many chances to RP. Keep that in mind please. Please be on time for the sessions or message ahead of time if you will be late. Apart from being on time & insisting you let me know if you’ll be late or can’t show up I tend to be a very loose DM and will allow stuff if I think it’s fun but I won’t always allow Nat 20’s to break the laws of physics unless it doesn’t have a huge impact and/or is really funny. Comment or message me any questions you may have. We tend to swear a lot and sometimes make jokes that might be considered inappropriate. Please be aware of that and the fact that the campaign may include triggering subjects before joining. I will have lots of official and homebrew books/files available for players to read and use. I'll have Handouts containing campaign rules and explanations available to read or we can choose a time to get on and I can go through the rules with you. We will be playing on Roll20 and using Discord so proficiency with both of those is required, no using the dndbeyond extension thing because I will give custom items and the dndbeyond interface for making those isn't user friendly. If you have problems adding spells to your sheet let me know and I'll do it because I have a browser extension that makes it easy Please be ready to accept the invites not long after you comment. This is so we have time to make sure everything works correctly.

Emberfell - Homebrew D&D 5e Campaign.

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Emberfell — Homebrew D&D 5e Campaign (Roll20, Level 3 Start)System: D&D 5e. Platform: Roll20, with a potential switch to Foundry VTT as sessions progress - voice via Discord. Format: Long-term homebrew campaign, multi-arc. Starting Level: 3 Players Needed: Additional 3 to 4 players. Currently have 1. Beginner-Friendly, no 5e experience required - those with experience will be prioritized. Schedule: Sundays, Weekly/bi-weekly - exact 2/3hr slot to be agreed with the group in advance, weekly, between the hours of 3pm and 9pm. The Pitch: Emberfell is a world that broke and never fully recovered - the sun's been dim since a calamity nobody can fully explain, and nobody living remembers it any other way. You'll start as a hired escort for a noble house's cargo, but a theft in a back alley on your first night out is going to pull you into something much bigger: an exiled angel bargaining with demons, a game piece that shouldn't be as powerful as it is, and a child who isn't supposed to still be alive. Tone: Tone is dark, but not grim-dark - morally grey NPC's, Real consequences, some geniune horror beats, but plenty of room for humor & for player-driven stories to unfold at the (virtual) table. Session 0 covers safety tools, such as safe words, topics a player wouldn't want within the campaign & tone expectations before we start. Looking for: Players who actually want to engage with the plot, NPC's & roleplays. Someone who will show up consistently, and is fine with a slower-burn mystery campaign, rather than pure dungeon crawling. New to 5e format is fine, as long as you actually want to roleplay. Drop a comment or DM if interested - Discord is attached. Add me or shoot me a message, and I'll send over some in-game lore so you can get a feel for the world, followed by a character creation guide (races, tone, what fits the setting) to get your character sorted. Once everyone's set, we'll run an online Session 0 as a group - safety tools, expectations, and a chance to actually meet each other before anything's played out. From there, each of you gets a quick one-to-one Session 0.5: a short solo scene built around your character's own backstory, no other players involved. Session 1 is where the party's characters actually meet each other for the first time. Thanks!!

Sex and the City, Baldur's Gate

NSFW
Not safe for work - the content or theme may not suit minors, so the site asks you to confirm your age first.
LGBTQ+ friendly
The table is openly welcoming to LGBTQ+ players.
[5e, 2014][18+][LGBTQ+] Looking for 1-2 players for a messy, romantic, Sex-and-the-City-style mini-campaign in Baldur's Gate 🐴✨ Hey everyone! I’m looking to run a super casual, very RP-heavy mini-campaign (around 4-5 sessions) for 1 or 2 players, on Discord voice & Roll20. If you love high fantasy, messy situationships, and treating D&D like a dating sim where actions actually have consequences, this is exactly your aesthetic. The Vibe: Basically, I want to run Sex and the City but set in the sprawling, chaotic streets of Baldur’s Gate. The main quest isn't about slaying a dragon; it’s about finding love, getting laid, and going to tavern brunches to debrief about bad dates. There will be a few encounters, but it'll be 60-70% RP. We’re going for a tone that is casual, funny and NSFW. I want the emotional beats and the romance to feel genuine, even if the premise is a bit chaotic. The Plot / Your Character: Here’s the lore: You (or you and a co-player) were a totally normal human until a wild magical mishap permanently turned you into a centaur. The cognitive dissonance is real. From the waist up, you are totally human with your normal sensibilities, anxieties, and need for actual romance. But from the waist down, you’re dealing with a new, massive body and some intense, hypersexuality that you are absolutely not used to. Baldur’s Gate is a massive, metropolitan city, but centaurs are highkey rare. Being a newly transformed one makes dating incredibly awkward. Plus, let's just address the elephant in the room: logistical challenges. Centaur anatomy means size actually matters, and finding an NPC whose, um, equipment can actually accommodate you (or vice versa)—and who isn't a walking red flag—is tough out here. Who I’m looking for: *  18+ only, obviously. There will be explicit NSFW scenes and themes. *  Everyone is welcome, LGBTQ+, but the campaign is definitely geared toward players who vibe with deep-dive character interactions, romance tropes, and "girl talk" energy. *  If you’re the type of player who loves making moodboards for your character's outfits, analyzing NPC texts (or sending letters via familiar), and trauma-dumping to the local bartender, we will get along perfectly. Logistics & Timing * Thursdays, 11pm CST * Discord for voice and Roll20 for maps If this sounds like your exact brand of brainrot, shoot me a DM or a chat! Tell me a bit about yourself, your pronouns, sexual preferences, and your absolute favorite romance/smut trope. Let's make some bad decisions in Faerûn lmao.

Tales from the Yawning Portal

Hello! We are a two-person campaign looking for more people to join us! We would love for you to join Vic, a wizard on the search for a portal that will reunite him with his lost love, and our NPC character Tim who's... Tim, a human fighter! We welcome any new characters, or if you would like to be Tim (who wouldn't want to be Tim?) that would be great too. We are currently finishing our first chapter, so we have plenty more story to tell!
